Is there an archive for old street maps/atlases online? I've seen old street directories online, but not atlases.

Historic Aerials has topographic maps in addition to their aerial/satellite images. Old Maps Online may be what you're looking for, however.

My state, Illinois, has this site.  Illinois Digital Archives.  I think someone here posted a link to it and I ran across it.  Maybe your state has something similar and this may help you refine your search.

My local library has many old maps and atlases of the local area online (I have spent way too much time on there).

I don't know of a comprehensive site, but if you are looking for a particular city, you might try the local library's website.
