I clinched MD 247 Sunday so I am now at the infamous 266.

What's infamous about 266? NY has a 266 which would be pretty easy to get on a trip to the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area.

It is the first number that I cannot clinch in my usual clinching states of VA, MD, DE, PA, NC, NJ, and WV. (though NY probably does fit this list).

Yes, I know about OH 266 and NY 266.  What annoys me more is that I could have gotten some of MO 266 last September had I realized it.

I will have the same problem eventually, having already noted that OH 266 is probably my best chance to get that number.

If only the proposed I-266 in DC wasn't cancelled ...

Nah.  That was a number under whatever cockamamie conditions they were discussing.  I'll let froggie clarify.

Not rolling with it is for ______.

It wasn't clear if MN 323 was driven while it was still posted as such. I assume most people would not count driving a route only after it was decommissioned.

Though if that became acceptable, folks who have driven lots of secondary roads in Florida, South Carolina and even Virginia will be in luck.

323, then? Misunderstood the post, thinking it was decommissioned after driven upon, which should count.

My first missing route is 46. Once I pick up a 46 that figure becomes 91.

Strolling through your Flickr, you've been on:

US 21, US 22, LA 23, FL 24, GA 25, NY 26, US 27, NY 28, FL 29, I-30, US 31, GA 32, US 33...

I can't find a photo showing you've been on "34", so there's a starting point for your research. Maybe South Carolina 34?

It will be a challenge to get 19 and 21 for me as MA 19 and MA 21 are on the other side of the state from me, the former being a rural short route. But MA 21 meets I-90, so it’s easier to get. I plan to take a trip out that way to get those two.

After coming across this thread I tried to figure out my answer. It appears to be 37. Before that, I've been on US 1, US 2, US 3, US 4, US 5, US 6, US 7, MA 8, US 9, I-10, US 11, MA 12, MA/NH 13, US 14, I-15, I-16, NY 17, NH/VT 18, MA 19, US 20, MA 21, NY 22, MN 23, I-24 (not for very long...but it still counts), I-25, I-26, US 27, MA 28, US 29, I-30, US 31, MA 32, CT 33, MN 34, I-35, and US 36.
I'm a bit far from I-37 and there is no US 37. The states I spend the most time in are CO, MA, and NY: There is no CO 37, my hometown is in western mass far away from MA 37. NY 37, on the other hand, isn't too far from where my summer residence is. Maybe I can get it there.

I'll keep digging into the maps, but I think this only bumps me up to 26.

It's possible I've been on CO-26 at some point, but I can't count it for sure.
I've driven through an intersection with KS-26, but never on the highway itself.
I've probably been within a half-mile of US-26, but not actually on it.
I can't come up with a single Minnesota county highway 26 that I've been on.

The lowest numbered route I haven't been on is now 184

This weekend I drove down to Virginia and snagged VA 167.  Also picked up VA 251, VA 252, VA 254 for future use.  Gotta plan ahead :)

Thanks for the suggestions, although I've pretty much settled on VA 167 as the least annoying "167" to get.  It's just off I-81 near Roanoke, which is reasonable for me to travel.  Other 167's that may be closer are out in the middle of East B.F.

Don't be a sissy.  Go out and get US 167.

Rothman, I guess I'm just a sissy.  But at least I don't count county roads, nor unsigned highways.

There's a VA 184 in Cape Charles VA on the Delmarva peninsula, just north of the CBBT.  Have a road trip sketched out to pick it up.  One I have it, I will now be into the 200's.

US 89

Clinched GA 162 today, so that means mine is going to go up... but how far up depends on whether you count decommissioned routes. I definitely traveled at least some parts of Utah's SR 181 while it was a valid route, but it got deleted back in 2007. To my knowledge I have never been on another 181.

Lowest unambiguous number I have never traveled is 188.

Well, scanning through the thread it looks like most people don't think counting since-decommissioned routes is sissy behavior... so we'll go with 188.

If it was signed with a number when I drove on it, I count it. If I didn't drive on it until after the sign with the number went away, I don't count it. Otherwise, I'll probably never get past 112.

Yep.  Same reason I don't count myself as having clinched I-87 (NC).

I can finally move off of #9. Coming across US 12 from Yakima, WA, to Helena, MT, I was able to make a 60 mile detour to ID 9.

I've been on US 10, ID 11 (also today), US 12, MT 13, WA 14, I-15, MT 16, US 17, SK 18, US 19, US 20, MT 21, US 22, MT 23, MT 24, I-25, US 26, MO 27.

So, now I need to find a highway 28.

That's the one I'm thinking of using. It's only about 230 miles away, so a nice day or so road trip could get it. Even make a round trip up to Glacier.
