Hm.  Makes me think of Kentucky's secondary routes which are indistinguishable from their primary routes shield-wise.

The point system came about after thinking how to balance distance and variety, but finding a way to reward those who are more thorough in a single system or region. If anything, someone with 100 or so should be drafting the idea...

Hehehehe...my evil plan is working.  Roadgeeks are now spending hours trying to find dinky roads just to move up the list.  Look at what I've made you do! :D

I just go wherever work sends me...it just turned out Virginia was on the menu for the last two weeks. And with the exception of one route (853), all were accomplished about 10-20 minutes from my job site.
Between 668 and 853?  Interesting...Still would take you while to touch them all... :D

No, only had to fill about a dozen numbers remaining from 668-863. I had many in the 800s claimed thirty-odd years ago, so I was just filling gaps on lunch breaks or after work.

I get enough people-time during actual work, and enjoy an escape. Maybe once a week I meet up with coworkers for lunch or dinner.

I'm fine with packing sandwiches, fruits, and veggies.

If that's what I get, then that's what it is. But Winchester is more rural and just about right.

Meh, that's where I got a decent number of higher route numbers in a couple of trips.  They have a fun car show and the surrounding are is scenic, but there are definitely more entertaining places to spend one's time.

In terms of actually-signed highways, I think the lowest one I have not been on any that's a 3, as I've not driven on any signed SR 3s in any of the states I've been to, nor have I ever been up to seeUS 3 for myself (yet?). If we are counting unsigned highways for this (couldn't get a clear answer searching the thread), then IDK what mine would be. Probably 7 or something like that.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

I feel signed is more proper, given that you wouldn't know what number an unsigned one is without looking it up. Ergo, my lowest is 3.

Also, I just realized that if unsigned was counted, then I wouldn't be sure what my lowest is given that US 11 here in Alabama is also AL 7.

The lowest numbered route I haven't been on has changed from 303 to 319   -   Took a day trip this past weekend to Maryland's Eastern Shore (mostly Federalsburg) to get a bunch of the low 300s I was missing.  Thank you, Maryland, for "clustering" the state highway numbers to make gathering them easier.

Being in the "no mans land" between 248 and 334, I once again did not move up in the rankings.

The next number I need is 319.  I think the closest is VA 319 near Petersburg.  There's also US 319 in Florida.  I'm planning a holiday trip to Florida, so I'll try to grab one or both of those at that time.

I think your nearest 3 will be in Memphis, as there's a small standalone section of TN 3 in the downtown. Either that, or it's signed alongside of US 41 in Georgia, but that's no different than counting it with US 31 in Alabama. Georgia also has a couple of short, independent "3 Connector" routes around the Atlanta metro.

Someone else claimed AL 3 out of US 31, so you wouldn't be the first...

I personally do not count the same stretch of road twice if one is a hidden designation. For example, if you hadn't driven on any other "31" nor "3", you'd count the lower or whatever missing number of the two, whichever one was not your personal list. I have to imagine you've been on some section of US 31 in Tennessee, though. But that's just me.

After all is said and done after my trip to Puerto Rico, I'm now up to 437, a gain of 58. Couldn't justify going that far off the highway to nab it. I got a good amount of numbers that were close to the highway though. 388 was the only one I needed to make a little extra effort to get to.

You can also really rack them up in the 437-450 range around Louisiana's North Shore.

Clinched VA-226 today, so my new number is 232. No leaderboard motion.

I drove by VA 226 early this morning as I took US 460 WB towards Lynchburg.
I was on US-460 EB from Burkeville to Petersburg in the late morning. Only missed each other by a couple hours I guess.

Ah, Excel...

I used to remember to watch out for that, but now I just don't care.
