Quote from: CoreySamson on March 18, 2025, 05:08:48 PM...This means that my next number is now 115. My plan for that is to get FM 115, which is located right off I-30 near Mount Vernon, TX, which will not be too difficult to grab on a trip from college to home.
I picked this up yesterday on my trip from college back home for the summer, moving me to 119. This number seems like it will be extremely difficult for me to find. The most feasible without finding it on a longer trip across the US is LA 119, but that is well outside my travel patterns in LA.

Texas' SH 119 was a fairy easy clinch for me outside of San Anontio.

That's a little embarrassing to find out... I literally just drove past the northern terminus less than two months ago. Well, I guess I could head out that way again sometime.

Quote from: ModernDayWarrior on January 08, 2025, 02:33:47 AMAs far as I can tell I've never driven a Route 33, so that appears to be my answer for now. Next lowest number seems to be 48.

Kind of an odd coincidence that those two route numbers would show up here--I just posted a couple days ago in the "road trip regrets" thread about my recent drive through West Virginia and not having enough time to make it to Corridor H.

Just to update this, I started working on Travel Mapping over the weekend and learned that I have in fact driven on a Route 33 - the short stretch of MO 33 that overlaps US 36 west of Cameron.

So that bumps my number up to 48. Hoping to knock that one out too later this month.

On Thursday I drove through St. Palais, where a D29 happens to start. However I wasn't traveling alone, so I missed the chance to bump my lowest untraveled up to 36. Dang...
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

Quote from: skquinn on December 12, 2020, 10:57:50 PMI've been on NASA Road 1, but no route numbered 2 I know of. After I find a route numbered 2, it will jump to 4 (Texas 3), then 7 (Spur 5, Texas 6), then at least 11 (Beltway 8, Vermont/New Hampshire 9, I-10).

It's been a little while, but I finally got to drive FM 2 near Navasota and Texas Highway 7 in Marlin. I'm also pretty sure I've been on either I-11 or US 11. That means after I find a highway 4 somewhere the lowest number will jump to 13 as I've been on Loop 12 in the DFW area at least once.

I-11 has only been around a short time.  Why the uncertainty?

For a while there, NDOT's I-11 sign installation schedule looked like it was decided with the aid of a roulette wheel, so maybe they're not sure if they were "really" on I-11 or not.

It took five full years (to the day, in fact!) but I finally advanced by driving GA 63 this past weekend. My new number is 96.

Assuming my travel plans don't fall through as they are wont to do, on my upcoming drives around the Northeast, I should get mileage on PA437, PA438, and NY454. That will put me up to 488, which doesn't seem easy for me to grab at all. ::fingers crossed::

Tell me about it, was scheduled for projects in Baton Rouge and Monroe which would scoop up many of my missing numbers in the 800s and 900s, but both projects were reassigned in the last few days.  I think I hear a tiny fiddle breaking out :D

I got my 488 in Maryland, but Pennsylvania has one too (there's a tiny overlap of PA 488 with US 19 in Portersville).

I also picked up 489 in Maryland on the same trip, since that one's not a common number.

My problem is that there aren't a ton of states near me that have those higher numbers -- namely Montana, Nevada, and New Mexico. When I'm out east, which I only get a road trip in every 4-5 years or so, I tend to focus on clinching the remaining interstate routes I have left, since I'm much closer to finishing that off (at 71%), then I am to have any chance of "winning" this game.

CoreySamson

There's an FM 488 right off of I-45 in between Houston and Dallas if you're ever driving that corridor. That's how I got my 488.

I have a 3 day trip plotted out from Central Ohio through PA & MD to pick off most of my 4XX I have left.
I just haven't had the funds, stamina, nor desire (no movement at the top of this game for the last 8 months), to follow through.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

New York has a State Route 488 that's less than a straight-line mile from the Thruway at its northern terminus, but there's no exit nearby.

Even so, just four miles south on NY 21 would set up an easy clinch and return via NY 96/NY 14 that would bypass a boring stretch of the Thruway and add 15 minutes at most.

I haven't been on the stretch since 2003. But if I get down there again. :)

I was through that area back in 2021, and maybe likely to head back that way since I have a good friend who lives in the Berkshires and Albany is just as easy to fly into.

It would be about 3 hours coming from Albany, so definitely a welcome change from Thruway scenery :)
