Showing my work. Obviously if the number is an interstate, I noted that first. Then I went through US Routes. If there's a state route listed, it's the first state alphabetically that has a highway that intersects an interstate.

US 9 intersects several interstates.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Think I just forgot to edit that one. I started just doing ones I knew off the top of my head and then changed gears. I'll edit.

Quote from: 74/171FAN on September 24, 2024, 10:13:26 AMI clinched TN 455 on Friday so my number is now 466, which will probably not change for a while.
Only took you 7 months to pass me again. I expected you to be in the 500s by now.

Honestly, in regard to this game, I really wish that US 466 stuck around though it is my fault that I did not clinch LA 466 when clinching US 90 BUS/I-910 in March 2022.

After a visit to Maryland's Eastern Shore and Virginia Beach, my lowest number not traveled has increased from 344 to 357.

Future prospects:
I may be stuck at 357 for a while.  The closest 357's that I could find were in New York, about 300 miles away, and one in South Carolina about 500 miles away.  I might be hitting SC over my Christmas travels.  Or I could plan a Cooperstown vacation to get the one in NY.  I did pick up a few higher numbers while I was on this trip.

Nobody Asked, but I will tell you anyway:
I looked over my travels and came up with some interesting (to me anyway) stats.  So I was bored.

Route numbers with the most variants:
      Route #     # Variants
1:116
2:712
3:1112
4:910
5:29510

Route numbers with the highest cumulative mileage:
      Route #     Mileage
1:    1   1644.15
2:   95   1496.66
3:   90   1458.68
4:   94   1033.73
5:   40    895.24

Route numbers with the lowest cumulative mileage:
      Route #     Mileage
1:  414   0.06SC 414, brief concurrency with US 25 (about 300 feet)
2:  756   0.08MD 756, connects US 113 and MD 359; wanted to clinch the latter
3:  303   0.08MD 303, brief concurrency with MD 404 Alt
4:  550   0.10PA 550, brief concurrency with PA 144
5:  399   0.14FL 399, Gulf Breeze, FL (rest of route is at county level)

That's the one I picked up; a quick detour to Tri-Cities Airport from I-81 on the way to Bristol. Under 10 minutes of my time.

South Carolina's 357 is east of Greenville and Texas' is way out by Corpus Christi.

Time for a trip to Indiana.

Thanks for the suggestion!  IN 357 is a bit further than the NY and SC ones (maybe 700-ish miles), but definitely doable if I decide to take a road trip out that way.

You know what?  I checked it out ... and I think I may have already been on a small piece of it!  Way back in 1990, I'm pretty sure I stayed at the Day's Inn there (which is now LaQuinta), so I've been on at least a few feet of TN 357.  Although, it's not even close to a complete segment on TravelMapping, which I try to leverage whenever I can.  So do I count it?  I'm not gonna bother right now ... especially since I still need a 358 as well LOL.  If I wanted to hit it again, distance-wise it's further than NY but closer than SC.

My current feeling is that I'm planning to head to the Florida panhandle in December, taking I-85, so that would position me to easily grab SC 357 (and SC 358) on the way.

I appreciate all of the suggestions!  It's nice that we help each other out on this "contest".

I clinched MD 367, MD 368, and OH 369 (all were missing!) on a roadtrip last weekend, which pushes me up to 378.

Bruce

I forgot to update my count. Now at 46, having clinched a bit of K-32 back in April.

After that I jump up to 61.

Definitely in the works, I do need to use up my annual parks pass on a few places in Oregon.

You're roughly equidistant from Arkansas, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania's 230.

Either that, or Starke, Florida because that's about all one can accomplish in Starke. Or because you want that seven-way overlap in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

In other words, I'm really going to be struggling with this number . None of these are terribly close to me. If I end up going way west on I-80, I might get Wyoming's 230 at some point.

Not if Lawtey gets you first! (Hint: there's at least one Keys shield left just off US 301, slow down for it.)

WYO230 is a nice drive! Not as cool as WYO130, but at least it's open year round.

For what it's worth, if you've been on US 29 in Virginia between Charlottesville and Culpeper, there is a brief concurrency with VA 230.

I've never been on a Highway 3, I'm kinda shocked by this considering I've come real close to going on them but I never actually have been on one. OR 3 is actually one of the few state highways I haven't been on at all there. Huh.
