Devil's Slide Trail on former CA 1

No trip to the Bay Area (at least in my opinion) is really complete without some sort of hike in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Since I was on a road oriented trip last weekend I figured that a hike on former CA 1 on the Devil's Slide Trail was in order.  The Devil's Slide is the second alignment of CA 1 from 1936 which replaced the Pedro Mountain Road alignment that was part of LRN 56 in 1933.  Of course the Devil's Slide is well known for being an infamous land slide area with several major slides that led to long closures of CA 1.  In total the Devil's Slide Trail is only 1.3 miles one-way but I started actually from the 2013 alignment of CA 1 at the Tom Lantos Tunnels and headed northward from there.

I wonder how long this trail will last?  Those landslides are not going to quit coming after all! 

When I see how the road is sized and striped, it makes me think "This is how bike trails should look".
