I was promised flying cars by Back to the Future II by this time... where's my flying DeLorean?

That's actually a pretty intriguing topic since technically flying cars have been around for decades.  It was once thought helicopters would possibly replace cars.  The problem with flying I general is that there is infinitely far less margin for error and training required.  That whole driver falling out of the air and instantly dying thing is a major downer in terms of ever making a flying car viable.
