For Minnesota it's between US 2 and US 12 both ending on the Washington coast. I can't find mileage figures by state to figure it out.

To round this out I guess:

Interstates:
East: I-90, Boston
West: I-90, Seattle
South: I-35, Laredo

US:
East: US 12, Detroit
South: US 59, Laredo

For N-S US highways in West Virginia, can anything beat US 11?
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

I'd be willing to bet US 11 is the N-S winner for most states it passes through. Though US 23 may give it a run for its money in Virginia for one direction.

US 23 over US 1 in Virginia?
