New pictures added from Gadsen, AL.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/sets/7215763411

that link isn't working... must be a new-interface glitch.  but it does helpfully give you a link to "most recent uploads" so it shows your Gadsden stuff.

when I was there, I did not see the button copy for 278/411/431, but did find a yellow stop sign.
Try it now, I added the full URL and it seems to work fine for me.  I have more Dothan stuff to add to the set as well, it is already on my flickr page just not in the set.  One bad thing about flickr is it is not the best for managing photos as it is all done with the dates it was uploaded, so you cannot change the order to keep you photos together except for the sets which even then is limited.

How the hell in new flickr do you get the URL to just the image? I'm trying to post in the forum, but I can't get a URL that doesn't go to the lightroom. :verymad:

Click the x in the upper right corner and the 'lightbox' crap disappears from the URL.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/41203461@N00/8427466323/ vs. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41203461@N00/8427466323/lightbox/
Or do you mean this (no caption)? http://www.flickr.com/photos/41203461@N00/8427466323/sizes/o/
Actually I meant so that the "insert image" feature in the forum works. It used to work every time.

Go to the last link, right click on image, copy URL. If it's set so you can't do that you'll have to go into page properties or source.

This may not work on every browser, but here is a simple way using Chrome:

[1] Find the username and filename for the picture.  I'm using one of my own pictures as an example.  My username is "ka.pe81" and the filename is "100_1617".  Both of these should be visible on the flickr page.

[2] Do a Google Imagessearch for flickr {username} {filename}.  The photo you want should be one of the first few results.

[3] Click on the image to expand it.  This is the part I'm not sure about on other browsers.  Click on the "View original image" button.

This should take you to the webpage for just the photo, which URL you can copy and paste into the forums.  By doing this, for example, I'm able to share my photo as you see here:

Quoteis that what the new view is optimized for?  a taller-than-wide browser window?

Latecomer to this, but I'd expect Flickr's mobile website to be the one optimized for smartphones/tablets.  Also works for those of us with crappy bandwidth. #LifeAtSea

(yes, I added a hashtag here...get over it)

Ok, I uploaded quite a few pics.  Including, embossed, non-reflective button copy signs from CT & Westchester, NY.  My first foray into road signs pics.  Whaddya think?

I just use an average iPhone, no fancy camera or anything.  I do notice some of the pics come out dark if the sun isn't facing the right direction.  Not sure if that's the iPhone or just luck.  Although whenever I take pics it seems to be cloudy.

Let me know what you think.  Thanks!

I like them.  Nice work - I live in the area that you covered in these pics so I think it's a good representation.

is there a way to revert Flickr's arterial-bleeding new interface?  I can scroll maybe three screen heights down before the whole thing is occupying 1GB more memory and my browser crashes.

I see this sign has taken a turn for the worse:

my photo is from August, 2006.  the US shield is 1948 spec (adopted by New York in 1955) has had the border painted in to bring it to 1961 spec.  the state shield is 1961 spec, and thus 1962 or newer.

I like the "ROUGH ROAD" sign with the orange flags. Especially since the pavement behind it looks pretty smooth. Did the pavement drop off beyond that point?

hbelkins

No. IIRC, there had been a culvert replacement there and it had been patched with cold mix and not with a final coat of asphalt.
