"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

"Now, what if da Bearss were to enter the Indianapolis 5-hunnert?"
"How would they compete?"
"Let's say they rode together in a big buss."
"Is Ditka driving?"
"Of course!"
"Then I like da Bear buss."
"DA BEARSSS BUSSSS"

What's the most recent route to come off the list?

I-79 or I-76 would be my guesses, considering PA introduced 70 mph fairly recently.

Probably not because of the sections in West Virginia and Ohio. My guess is I-93 or I-99.

NH was 70 pre-NMSL, so it might not make the list.
Interstates I've clinched: 97, 290 (MA), 291 (CT), 291 (MA), 293, 295 (DE-NJ-PA), 295 (RI-MA), 384, 391, 395 (CT-MA), 395 (MD), 495 (DE), 610 (LA), 684, 691, 695 (MD), 695 (NY), 795 (MD)

Does I-2 get up to those speeds?

yep

Does it ever hit 75?

Not to my knowledge.
Which being Texas, is surprising, there's certainly some outskirt areas between McAllen and Harlingen that could theoretically be posted at 75 mph.

Never above 70 mph could be another list...

I-64, I-85, I-81, I-26, I-66, I-65, I-59... also apparently I-2, and various other highways in the east do not have 75 mph or faster speed limits though do have significant portions posted at 70 mph.

Judging from this map, a lot of interstates will make the 70 mph and under list
4, 12, 16, 22, 24, 26, 39, 41, 43, 55 (from GSV views, it seems like it is only 70 mph in LA and AR), 57, 59, 64, 65, 66, 68, 71, 72, 73, 74, 77, 78, 79, 81, 83, 85, 87, 88, 89, 91, 93, 96, 97, 99

If I'm not mistaken, all of I-55 in Arkansas is now either posted at 65 mph (West Memphis) or 75 mph, I don't believe there's any 70 mph segments left, unless like the first mile or two north of the I-40 / I-55 concurrency was kept at 70 mph. As for the other states, I-55 is posted at 70 mph in Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois.

Are any segments of I-78, I-83, I-89, I-91, or I-97, posted at 70 mph? I thought they were maxed out at 65 mph, hence why they were mentioned upthread.

This would be the same situation as above until about 4 years ago when the new southern I-87 was designated along the US-64 freeway (which is 70 mph) outside Raleigh, NC.

FTFY. The newly designated I-87 in North Carolina is posted at 70 mph.

My list includes interstates that don't have 70 mph segments since they're 70 and under too, aka what is mentioned in the thread already. You can take out those ones for a true list of ones that have 70 mph, but don't go over.

Oh okay, I see where you are coming from, I was aiming for 70 mph only.

Those would be fairly short sections, though.  I'm not generally in favor of speed limits bouncing up and down, and it's my experience that Texas isn't either.
