Guess the speed limit challenge

I could be wrong, but something tells me this isn't a full freeway. So I'll try 60 mph in case it's not any of the above.

You're right on both fronts! It's US-195 south of Spokane, WA. This is a few miles to the north (closest speed limit sign): https://www.google.com/maps/@47.5852148,-117.4035206,3a,75y,187.71h,84.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-2Mkw06yYOrVmq2KNO9GDw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

That said, 60 is too slow IMO, and even by Washington standards could conceivably be 70 (if US-395 can be even in some not-quite-freeway segments), or even 65, which Washington doesn't use much. I was driving 70-75 through here no problem. I also think some of the 2-lane parts of US-195 could be 65 instead of 60 (which Washington does on some other rural 2 laners), though maybe they've avoided that due to traffic levels, which were light when I drove it but I know can get high because of WSU.

To add to the argument it should be higher than 60, here's Idaho's parallel equivalent ~25 miles to the east, US-95, this time an undivided 4 lane highway, but with a higher speed limit than 195.

Nice! I don't know what it was that made me think it wasn't a full freeway... maybe because it vaguely looks like there's a house/farm with a driveway in the background, or maybe the lack of guide rail and/or reflectors in the median.

I have to agree that it could be higher than 60 mph, but then again it would be 55 mph in NY, so who am I to criticize!  :D

I guess I only kicked the can down the road for a few hours by giving up my turn, so I might as well do again. If anyone has one they want to use, they can go ahead. Otherwise I'll have one later this evening or tomorrow.

Let me steal your turn for now because I think this might be interesting (km/h):

Watch it be some default speed limit of 80 km/h

Does it end or 0 or 5? That's one of the rules.

If it's in Ontario, it probably ends in 0.

I'll try 70 km/h.

andrepoiy

My bad, it ends in 0.

Unfortunately, 45, 80, and 70 are not correct

It should, but the rule actually came about because of an Ontario limit posted here that didn't end in 0.

30 km/h?

60

That is correct. This is 19th Sideroad in King Township, Ontario. I do not suggest you go 60 km/h due to the road conditions though, not sure why they decided 60 was a good speed.

Starting to run out of ideas again, I'm gonna have to find some more soon.

Yep that's it. It's Shoreline Dr in Boise, ID. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.6164178,-116.2198482,3a,75y,183.42h,77.16t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sX-X7h_-ZCBwjM8bghMhtMQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The 20 is widely ignored, it's surrounded by 30 MPH streets and many people use this as a through route. The street is relatively wide and not really designed like a low speed 20 MPH street, so most people go around 30.

I've come around more to the idea of low urban speed limits (I'm not talking about urban freeways, those should be fast), but only when the road design is appropriate (which in North America is rare). As the road is designed now, 20 is too slow. As it is now, I think it should be posted 25 or 30.

stevashe

^^^ Yeah, I never would have guessed 20 without the incorrect guesses eliminating other possibilities  :-D

Next up, we have this one from Canada that ends in 0 (km/h)
