55 mph would be correct. New York has a habit of reverting to the default 55 mph in areas where 40 mph is barely attainable, and then they post 40mph on roads that can easily be driven at 60 mph or more.

What!? I've actually been on that segment and didn't know it was posted at 55 mph. At least there are advisory speeds for all the curves. It's a scenic area that can be very slow in the summer/fall due to the curves, traffic, and nearby trails.

Yeah, I was stunned the first time I was on it heading WB up the hill coming out of Palenville and I saw the sign that said End 35 mph Limit. It also made me laugh seeing climbing lanes, as if anyone can go fast enough to pass another car along any of those stretches.
And of course, as soon as you get to the crest of the hill and the road flattens/straightens out, you are in Haines Falls and it goes down to 40 mph.

Sweet! I've been on a road like this in Arkansas that was very winding with a 55 mph limit, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

It seems as though they signed 30 due the curve... An advisory limit would have been better

Wow!! I actually had 110 km/h typed out before changing it to 30. I really thought there was no way it could be either speed. (Of course, if I could have seen the reverse view I never would have guessed 110, LOL!)
