I didn't think we were doing speed limits on private streets. Seems like a slippery slope.

No pun intended! I tried to give enough indications that it was going to be a low limit that it wasn't too much of a crapshoot, plus there was a number of visual cues in the image. Even so, it took 6 guesses, and none of them were above 30 mph. There's been plenty of public roads posted that have had a much bigger range of guesses and taken way more than 6 guesses, and were probably a lot more generic and less interesting to guess, too.

All that said... I don't have a major issue with banning private streets, even though I do feel it will make the game less interesting. But it should be added to the rules if that's what we're going to do.

Okay, fair enough. You're right that it can be pretty fun.

My concern is that private streets generally aren't enforceable. I figured we were primarily leaning into examples that could be enforced. But if there is no such rule, and we stick to divisible by 5 MPH/10 km/h, I'm cool with that.

25 mph?

You got it! It's Union St in Middletown, PA (outside of Harrisburg).

I drove on this road as a back road between Hershey and my hotel in Mechanicsburg to avoid some traffic on US-322 and I-83. The whole thing is posted at 25 MPH. A lot of it is somewhat residential, but some of it opens up a little more like you see here. I try not to speed in residential areas (I have no problem speeding on highways) so I was keeping it close to 25, but it was kinda hard. I'd say 35 would be much more reasonable. The picture I posted makes 45 look reasonable, but that would be too fast for parts of the road.

From what I can tell, 40 seems to be the most reasonable.

It looks to be inviting higher speeds, but I'll guess 30 MPH.

Technically this rule doesn't exist for this topic, but it's been a couple of days and we need a new post soon- if andrepoiy doesn't post a new one by midnight, I will open it up to anyone posting.
