The corridor of travel from Folsom east to Placerville is one of the most important and most historic overland routes in California.  The Folsom-Placerville corridor includes historic routes such as; the Lake Tahoe Wagon Road, the Pony Express, the Lake Tahoe State Highway/First State Highway, South Lincoln Highway and US Route 50.  Much of the earliest elements of US Route 50 were directly taken from the corridor established by the Lake Tahoe State Highway and South Lincoln Highway.  It took me a solid 10-12 hours to track down all the information contained within this blog given there is substantial documentation on Folsom-Placerville corridor dating back to the 1850s.  If you like historic highway corridors and old alignments the Folsom-Placerville corridor is great place to look:

Added a bunch of photos to this blog from the Sacramento Area Road Meet.  The old Lincoln Highway alignment on Tong Road and Old Bass Lake Road is worth the effort if you find yourself in the area.

I'm surprised there aren't Historic Route signs along it. The only place I've seen those is in Folsom. Give it the US-40 treatment, a sign on every lamppost with a Sponsored By or In Memory Of banner.

Maybe not in Placerville but there are plenty of Lincoln Highway shields east of Folsom:

Par Joel Windmiller the current signage in Folsom was put up in 2023 by the city in advance of the Lincoln Highway Conference.  I guess it is hard to call the Auto Trail dead when the Association is out having meetings and putting up signs still.

I was thinking of US-50 signage.

Yes, Folsom is the only city I can think of that has signage for Old US 50 in California.  Probably doesn't help the nostalgia factor that the highway is still active.

Yeah, the LH is signed pretty darn well east of Sacramento, with plenty of interpretive signs to boot. I drove a bit of it between Folsom and Placerville on my way to Saturday's meet, and signs were plentiful on the maintained stretches.
