Florida Toll Road Shield "TOLL" tab

This is my first post, so excuse any errors.

I was browsing central Florida highways on GSV and noticed that the "TOLL" tab on Florida toll shields can differ like this:



Here, the TOLL tab has a green background, and...



...here it has a yellow background. Most toll shields I see in Florida are mostly the green variant, but some have the yellow TOLL tab.

Does anyone know why this is?

The green TOLL is the older version being phased out for the yellow.

Also CFX who runs the Orlando area toll roads use a red FL outline instead of usual black.

Personally I find the green toll tab to be the most pleasing to the eye.  I always reminds me of the Suncoast Parkway or I associate it with that road for some reason.

Maybe they are being used interchangeably?

I like the yellow more - to me, it conveys a warning that the road is a toll road because it is yellow.

I don't disagree, the sign collector in me though tends to prefer what is more pleasing to look at.  Interestingly I apparently have 39 photos of FL 589 shields on my Flickr.  It's about a 50/50 split between green and yellow toll tabs.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the signs from the top example. Sure, you can complain about the cardinal directions/distances/exit tabs being in Clearview (Series 5WR, is it not?), but as long as the shields don't contain it (and we all know MI for being the poster child of the absolutely worst way to do it!), I don't mind them one bit.

They do still print the TOLL tab in green in some situations on new signs. I can't remember where it was right now, but I know there is a sign on one of the highways that has 2 shields on it, 1 with a green toll tab, and another a yellow toll tab, on the same sign. If memory serves me right, CFX says if you're newly entering a toll road, the tab should be yellow to warn you of that, but if its a reassurance shield, there is no need to have it yellow and thus they use green. Or something like that.
