I could name several other similar-era songs that I turn off, if possible, as soon as I hear them ("Jingle Bell Rock"

will someone tell me what the fuck a "jingle horse" is

Jingle is a verb in context; you're telling the horse to jingle. There should be a comma between the two words.

Not buying that, since "jingle horse" are both on the same beat (note that this song, like all obnoxious Christmas music, is in 2/2, so the quarter notes are a half beat and the eighth notes are quarter-beats.)

It might have been cute whenever that song was written, but by now it's so overplayed that I find it very tiresome. I could name several other similar-era songs that I turn off, if possible, as soon as I hear them
Why might you say that?
We got Christmas Shoes (yes, christmas shoes) that HAS TO BE TURNED OFF when I hear it! My father cried when he heard this, and now he will NEVER play it again!  :ded:  :pan:

Note that someone's age is also the number of Christmases they have lived through. Christmas music stops being fun the more times you hear it, especially if you end up in a situation where you have no control over whether you listen to it or not.

That one is pretty stupid too. Probably the most mawkish song I've ever heard.

Sirius XM or Spotify.  That's all that's played in my car.

My wife will put on the Christmas music the weekend after Thanksgiving when we're setting up the tree and whatnot, and then on Christmas Day.  That's all I ever hear of it.

I do greatly enjoy Twisted Sister's version of "O Come All Ye Faithful," which of course you'll never hear most places because it's a religious song.

It's "We're not gonna take it" with different lyrics

Well, actually it's the reverse: Dee Snider said "We're Not Gonna Take It"  was derived from "Adeste Fideles."  So in a sense, he was flipping the script back. But either way, it's still my favorite version. The whole album from which it's drawn consists of heavy metal Christmas music, but that's the only religious song. (Give credit to the band for singing all three verses of "Deck the Halls,"  however.)

Their version of the Twelve Days of Christmas is a send-up of heavy metal: "Four quarts of Jack, three studded belts, two pairs of spandex pants, and a tattoo of Ozzy."

I had an MP3 with Christmas Music, but don't know what happened to it.

It's not Christmas until (a) Thanksgiving is over  and (b) someone plays Mason Williams doing Greensleeves.

It's not Christmas until December 1.

We don't really decorate our house anymore, though. My wife has zero interest in doing so, so if there's any decorating to be done, I would have to do it. Going through all of the rigamarole of putting up the tree and taking it back down in January just kind of feels like a waste of effort given that we don't really have anyone over. There's also the matter of my idiot cat, who I'm sure would destroy the tree and probably electrocute herself in the process.

It's not Christmas until Dec 25, and it lasts until Epiphany (Jan 6).  Before that, it's Advent, which starts Nov 28 this year.

kkt

I would probably feel a lot better about Christmas music on December 25th if they waited until after Thanksgiving to start playing it.

It's not Christmas until Black Friday...

I remember every Thanksgiving night in Chicago, we would put up the tree and all of the decorations, while one of the old-time Christmas records was playing on the turntable. While it was nothing like Chevy Chase's house in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, there was always lots of nice stuff to go around. Then we'd take them down on New Year's Day, as that signaled the end of the fun and festivities.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

A friend of mine also won't have a Christmas party either before Christmas as he believes it's disrespectful to the nature of the seasons. He believes Advent should be respected and not skip it. So one year he had his party in January before the Baptism of the Lord, which the Roman Catholics consider to be the true end.

Yeah by about mid-January is usually when we take everything down. Leave it up the week after the Epiphany and take it down on Jan 15-16th

We need Thanksgiving music

Like Jingle Bells?  (Look it up)

In addition:
Over the River and Through the Woods
The Thanksgiving Song (by Adam Sandler)
Alice's Restaurant
105.7 WROR played a parody of Workin' for a Livin' called Turkey for Thanksgiving. It's their own parody, though, so I don't expect it to be played anywhere else.
