A good thing about the NCAA: There are no unions involved.

Surprised more of you dont hate the Cowboys.  Even here in Austin there are a lot of those.  Gotta go home and make my list tonight.....

1 Boston Red Sox (thinking they are so much better than Yankee fans...and they'll never have that many rings)
2 OU Sooners (landgrabbers)
3 aTm Aggies (do the other 10 games besides the UT game matter?)
4 MN Vikings (will never win the big one)
5 Alabama (roll turds!)
6 Nebraska (we have a football team and..well, thats about it)
7 Washington Redskins (ever getting rid of the racist name?)
8 Phi Eagles
9 Notre Dame (would rate higher but they arent as smug these days)
10 Iowa (we have a football team and American Pickers and, well, thats about it)
Hurts me to leave off the Celtics, Nascar, Ohio State, and USC

Um, The Redskins were named after a coach's nickname, and yes, he was an Amerindian.  So don't be so quick to suggest it was named in racism.

I lived in Minnesota where they changed all teams named braves, indians, whatever to Lakers.  I dont have problems with Utes, Seminoles, whatever, just "Redskins" and the Cleveland Indians mascot....just a little over the top in 2011.

^ The story is that The Seminole Nation gave their approval of the Florida State mascot , name, and game traditions. and they have someone dress up in warpaint and throw an arrow down on their home turf before the game begins. Even speaking as a Gator, it's definitely bad-ass...although we do remind them that they were an all-girls school until the late-1940s.

Okay, so there's one team that annoys me, especially even FSU fans admit that having only one very repetitive chant gets annoying after a while. We have more than a few at Florida Field.

texaskdog

most teams have annoying traditions.  My least favorite is any of the 800 traditions at aTm.

One of the most hated teams in college football served themselves a giant slice of humble pie this week when Ohio State forfeited all of their 2010 wins.  So on behalf of the rest of the Big 10 (er.. 12, whatever):  HA HA!!!

eh.  as much as I dislike Ohio State, I think the NCAA is a million times worse.  it would be one thing to argue on behalf of amateurism if the school itself were also running its football program "for the love of sport".  Alas, the schools, the bowls, the NCAA themselves... they're all raking in money hand over fist, and to deny the athletes (ya know, the actual people who deliver the product) a piece of the action is gravely unfair.

^^
I'm with you on that.  The NCAA functions as a minor league for the NFL and NBA.  But the players are not compensated for their contributions toward this multi-billion dollar endeavor.  Supposedly they're getting an "education" out of this deal, but the 40 or 50 grand most of their scholarships are worth pales in comparison to the billions raked in by schools and the NCAA through apparel and video games and advertising.  Yet a when a student-athlete accepts a pair of shoes or a car that fucking works from a booster, suddenly they're giving up Heisman's and bowl games.

Since Michigan isn't worth worrying about anymore, we'll have plenty of marshmellows and quarters waiting for when all of Wisconsin comes to C-bus.

I think USC should hang their 2005 championship trophy and Bush's Heisman award proudly in the economics wing of their campus, with a sign: this championship earned by the most fairly-compensated players in college football history.

Long as its nowhere near USC's philosophy Dept. I'm sure they would have questions concerning the ethics of those "fairly-compensated" students, err, athletes.

What's funny is Title 9 means there has to be a woman's sport for every man's sport, and some complain about how much the football program gets and the coaches are paid, but they actually make the school money in most cases.  I love UT softball but those 500 tix for each of 25 home games dont compare to the 100,000 the football team sells for each of 6 games.

Like these FB teams all have to cheat to get ahead, apparently.  If NFL had a minor league, how many of these kids would go to college?

Ditto if the major sports leagues in North America operated on the same 'promotion/relegation' system that most others do elsewhere in the World.

And the pro owners cry about losing money.  Fine....don't pay your players so much.

Teams I hate:

-St. Louis Cardinals
-Chicago White Sox
-New York Yankees
-Green Bay Packers
-Minnesota Vikings
-Detroit Red Wings
-Vancouver Canucks
-Boston everything (not so much the Bruins anymore)
-Dallas Cowboys
-Indianapolis Colts
-Miami Heat

Some of these may sound like strange teams to hate, but if you're a Chicago sports fan, you'll know why I hate almost every one of these teams.

What I hate most about the Viqueens (after living 37 years in Minnesota) was that every year they think they'll win it all, and get so smug about any small bit of success.  They keep beating the Cowboys who actually have 5 super bowl championships.

Seems like you're more of a Wrigley Field fan than an actual baseball fan.
