Winnipeg road meet (June 7, 2025)

That is not on the meet route - I am avoiding downtown until the very end, but you may want to check out 1275 Portage Ave. (TCH 1 west of downtown) before or after.

Initial thoughts for meet:

(11:00-12:30) Start in St. Boniface (French Quarter). Can park vehicles on side streets to consolidate.
(2:00-2:20) Drive out to 100 (route can be adjusted) and head west on 2 to pick up a clinch on 424 on the way out to a nice old bridge on 248.

Do you have in mind starting the meet with a sit-down lunch? The starting address on your itinerary features a vacant lot (as of August 2024) which if it hasn't been developed since then looks suitable for parking. A few eating places in the vicinity (regular hours include Saturdays).

Yes, that is the thought. For only 4 of us I don't see a need to make a reservation. I'm doing final planning this weekend and will pick out a tentative restaurant for the meet, but it can be changed if desired.

There's a large number of bilingual signs in Manitoba as well as a good-sized francophone Metis population, particularly around Winnipeg and the Red River.

Wildfires in northern Manitoba are sending smoke toward Winnipeg, and south into the upper U.S. Midwest. Winnipeg seems to be relatively safe, since people evacuated from some northern communities like Flin Flon are being flown to Winnipeg.

From past travels in western Canada, I seem to be fairly insensitive to wildfire smoke. Just in case, I'll bring some unopened KN95 facemasks left over from the coronavirus pandemic, with extras for other attendees if needed.
