He never coached the Eagles or Notre Dame.

Yesterday, I saw what I think was the New England Patriots bus convoy heading south on I-95 toward Rhode Island (T.F> Green) Airport, pol esport and all. I'm surprised they waited until the eve of the game to head to Denver, given the climatic challenges of playing 5,280 feet above sea level. Coach Vrabel knows what he's doing.

The NFL somehow managed to avoid any major weather impacts on Championship weekend, with Seattle and Denver both being well north/west of the storm's path. However, we may still get a snow game in Denver.

kphoger

I still remember a day back in the 1990s when the snow was so heavy that no flights flew out of Denver.  Except for the Broncos.  Theirs was the only plane that flew out that day.  Because that's what our society prioritizes.

Should have said this before kickoff, but I want a Stidham vs. Darnold Super Bowl for maximum hilarity.

Stidham is looking pretty solid so far.

To the chagrin of everyone else in the AFC (and the NFL), the Patriots outlast the Broncos in a snow-filled AFC Championship Game. They win their first playoff game in Denver.

Patriots-Broncos for the AFC Championship...

Based on these matchups, I am taking:
Seahawks for the NFC Championship over the Rams - CORRECT (Rams 27-31 Seahawks)
Patriots for the AFC Championship over the Broncos - CORRECT (Patriots 10-7 Broncos)

Seahawks-Patriots for the Super Bowl! - CORRECT
And I am betting on the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl!

Amazing that Sean Payton going for it on 4th and 1 inside the 20 in the first quarter instead of kicking the field goal likely cost the Broncos the AFC Championship.

That muffed punt lost the Rams the game.  Kind of fitting considering how bad the special teams have been all year.  My wife's family was furious at the end of the game (they are Rams fans).

Also, Sam Darnold is the first QB from the 2018 draft class to make a Super Bowl.  I never would have guessed that after his tenure with the Jets.

The easiest way to remember Seahawks appearances in the Super Bowl is to remember when there's a new pope:

2005 - Pope Benedict XVI elected, Seahawks lose Super Bowl
2013 - Pope Francis elected, Seahawks win Super Bowl
2014 - Seahawks lose Super Bowl
2025 - Pope Leo XIV elected, Seahawks go to Super Bowl

Given the way the post season has gone on the sidelines, it wouldn't shock me if Denver fires Payton and goes after McDermott -- the changing of the Seans, so to speak.

Pope names are way too generic and contain way too many numbers for me to commit to memory.  Alanland history by extension is fairly easy to remember.

That would be a stunner, but if Sean Payton was available I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills hired him either.

Eff Sean Payton. Happy he lost yesterday.

Not saying that I put any stock in this, and not saying that I even care (because I don't), but just tossing this out there to rile up the hordes.  Perhaps not surprisingly, Aaron Rodgers supposedly is one of its proponents.

Super Bowl logo conspiracy theory says matchup is rigged.

Somehow Shedeur Sanders got in the pro-bowl (after a whole bunch of abdications). He was like the 18th best QB in the AFC.

That would be the most shocking firing (assuming on-field reasons) in the history of the NFL.

Henry

So now we get a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX...and the experts think the Seahawks will get their revenge. But you have to admit that 13 losses to a Super Bowl berth is the greatest one-year turnaround in NFL history, and going for seven championships to match Tom Brady would definitely be the Patriots' icing on the cake.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

I would have thought the Seahawks would have opened as a larger favorite than -4.5 points.

I think I'm going to tease the line back and try to take them -9.5.

And the Broncos just cleaned house on the assistant coaches side:
