You have to compete certain quests and give her the sorts of gifts that she likes.  This should be easy enough to Google.

Mess up the side quests and you end with a succubus instead.

Now I wish I could find an old book of Kliban comics, which had one about food products marketed to vampires.  For example, "Scabs (nacho cheese flavor!)".

My friend has one: Road Work is a money laundering scheme.

In a nutshell, he thinks that US roads are way too poor condition for how much money supposedly gets put into them. Also that everyone has stories about how their town has roadwork that's taken years to complete and is still not done. He personally knows stretches of highway that have taken 17 years and are still being worked on. So therefore most of the money supposedly spent on roads is actually going to other secret projects.

That's one you hear in Las Vegas sometimes—that Las Vegas Paving has a sweetheart deal with the county to tear up and repave the same streets over and over again. It doesn't help that they rent cones from a company called Master of Barricades, which means all the cones have M.O.B. on them.

A new one from Jessica's TikTok videos pertains to Avenue 15 in Madera County.  Apparently, a motorcyclist now once crashed/died while heading from Oakhurst to Madera via Avenue 15 (unclear why he wasn't on CA 145).  The motorcyclist "now haunts" Avenue 15 as a ghostly hitchhiker (unclear why he doesn't have a ghost motorcycle).

It's because he didn't make the ghost payments, and the ghost motorcycle was repossessed.

How much were the ghost payments?  Why didn't he come to an agreement like Johnny Blaze?

Some work zone speed enforcement seems to be an cash grab like the low 45 on roads that should be 60+ if no one working at the time.

I once got a ticket for disobeying the lowered speed limit in a work zone... on Labor Day. The judge was at least nice enough to cut the fine in half.

That typically happens when you fight any ticket.

Not all work zones cease work on holidays.

Not to mention that the speed limit reduction is often due to lane closures or geometry issues, not because of people actively working.

Some states, I think California being one of them, have gotten in trouble for having construction zones that seemingly never end, like they'll be in place for years with no obvious progress being made. I think in some cases, the state had to show proof there was actual progress and they weren't just speed traps, and they lost.

Wonder if that's a...conspiracy theory...

I mean, I often wondered about the Castleton-on-Hudson Bridge... seemed like there was always a lane closure and speed reduction on that bridge for many years, often with whatever work it was for being very non-obvious (one time the only activity I saw was a cop sitting in the closed lane with his door opened and a radar gun pointed at traffic!).

I've questioned whether Texas does something similar. I've seen more than my fair share of roads in Texas marked with a "construction speed limit" with no other work happening on them.

For a while, it was painting that took forever and now it's the deck work that's taking forever.  Thruway just doesn't want to pay for a new bridge altogether...
