Quote from: GaryA on July 14, 2025, 06:45:15 PMUntil recently this latter sign was lit up continuously during the current construction of the wildlife crossing overpass, but whenever I tuned into that station, I just got "This is a Caltrans test message" repeated.  Likely the radio message was only activated when lanes (or the entire freeway) were closed, but no one thought to change this sign's status.
Sounds like a good way to get people to ignore the sign.  Hasn't CalTrans heard of the boy who cried wolf?

I found an interesting dark electronic sign in Claremore, OK today here...

Seems like it should light up whenever a train is crossing the parallel tracks, similar to the Houston example I posted earlier in the thread. But this one looks like it has been here a lot longer than that Houston one (at least since 2008, according to GSV).
