I just seen a sinus add commercial with a knock off California cut out US 101 shield on a road made to look like a truck traveling the west coast highway.  The funny thing is the shield was on the wrong side of the road.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

The movie "Midnight Run" with Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin *(classic movie by the way)* had a scene that had a button copy sign reading

Kennedy Airport

USE  678  SOUTH

Trying to get a link or photo for the scene to post.

Also, Bruce Willis' "Die Hard with a Vengeance" has scenes along the Saw Mill Parkway and Harlem River Dr (around exits 21-23) - again trying to find a link.

The opening credits of "Trading Places" with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd feature some classic signage on I-95 and I-76-676 in Philadelphia. :)

Tonight's episode of Doctor Who. Not so sure about that wonky two-lane "interstate," but they got the exit number and the route correct.

The sign is surprisingly faithful!

Recently I saw the 1984 movie "Starman" with Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen; there is a scene late in the movie when the two main characters are in Las Vegas and need to get to Winslow, AZ where the alien "Starman" is to meet his spacecraft and return home.  They need a car to get there; Starman magically hits a jackpot on a slot machine at the Horseshoe and they immediately go and buy a Cadillac.  The car sales lot is on the northeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Fremont St. in downtown Las Vegas.  They leave the lot by turning right onto westbound Fremont St. and immediately cross Las Vegas Blvd. (the street names are clearly visible on the backlit pole-mounted street name signs at the intersection; also, THIS IS GOING THE WRONG WAY FROM WINSLOW, but I digress).  And noticeable in the background, just as the car begins to pull out of the sales lot, over the roof of the car one can clearly see a "NORTH US-93" reassurance marker mounted on a light pole on NB Las Vegas Blvd.  I-515 was under construction in 1984, so this scene was filmed when US-93 still existed on its original routing of Boulder Hwy-Fremont St.-LV Blvd. prior to its (present) concurrent routing with I-515.

They got it close enough that, having seen that sign for about a second on-screen, I thought it was authentic.
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.

Another one from Doctor Who, although this one is a little less authentic. It's supposedly in "Nevada U.S.A."

The first trailer for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" was released yesterday, which includes scenes shot on NY 33 in Buffalo. Signage for the NY 198 interchange and E. Utica St. overpass can both be seen.

See if you recognize the road scenes from this music video.

I spotted a brief glimpse of the New Jersey Turnpike in at least one scene.

There's a scene from the 2013 movie "Standing Up," that contains a scene where the two main characters nearly collide into an old barricade at a dead end road where a Stop sign is above the barricade, and an "End" sign is mounted on it.

It's another one of those things that makes me wonder how common the use of "End" signs are in other parts of the country.

I've started watching the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. In the first episode, Al Capone is driving back to Chicago with stolen whiskey, and passes this sign:

Lincoln Highway sign on Boardwalk Empire

I'm guessing it would have been somewhere in Indiana, if such a sign actually existed.

In this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKyY8zfjBMQ

US431 makes an appearance at 0:26. The exact same US431 marker appears here on GSV:
https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8600251,-86.8469846,3a,15y,215.95h,84.89t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sf9U-xrg3TuakANJ2eI-vQA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The word South and the bottom of the sign are scuffed in the exact same places as in the video.

Tennessee State Route 248 then makes an appearance at 2:15 in the video. The corresponding GSV for this can be found at:
https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8341199,-86.8805551,3a,20.6y,31.98h,78.45t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sZy9sJzlOL0oSqrnA9t7pvg!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DZy9sJzlOL0oSqrnA9t7pvg%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D135.95822%26pitch%3D0!7i13312!8i6656

This sign also has the same blemishes as the one in the video.

Location could be in Ohio, depending on the exact routing of the Lincoln Highway at the time.  Indiana is only about 150 miles wide east to west.

A favorite distance sign of mine with three destinations in three different states on modern US 30 near Delphos, Ohio shows 206 miles to Chicago.  The historic Lincoln Highway routing runs roughly parallel, overlapping in places and a little further away in others.

Do license plates qualify here?

I was recently watching a film that was made in Vermont but set in Kentucky. There were Vermont plates visible in a couple of scenes (including one where the lead character leaves her small town to go to New York). Just seemed incredibly lazy to not just get some prop Kentucky plates for the scenes where the lead character is hanging around her personal car.

It wouldn't have been as bad if the Vermont plate didn't look like this:

And thus REALLY REALLY difficult to just hide.

I have been binge watching the TV show "Crime Story" -- A crime drama from 1986 that was set in 1963's Chicago (and later Las Vegas).

In one of the earliest scenes, there is a dramatic car chase which starts near The Loop.  The chase then moves onto the Kennedy (I-90/94).  They were able to do scenes on the Expressway as that was around the time that the Kennedy was undergoing a complete rebuild, at least in one direction, which is why they could do the scene there..  I'm not sure exactly where the scenes took place, but I'm sure someone here can ID the exact local(es). The scene starts a few ticks after the 5-minute mark:

As a native Angeleno, I love being able to spot scenes from L.A. in movies and tv shows and commercials, and being able to identify them.

This superbowl commercial (0:25)   http://screenrant.com/hulk-vs-ant-man-coke-mini-super-bowl-commercial/

was shot at the corner of Hope and Wilshire in Downtown LA:

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0486756,-118.2570648,3a,75y,352.42h,88.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sSQHbbP7ES2jHF7seuF6Uag!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1

For some reason, the commercial people decided to rename Hope st to Stokes St.

(The Athletix gym around the corner shown in the commercial gave it away)

I've seen a few in California. Here's one in Fresno.

One of the police chase scenes in the 1974 movie The Gumball Rally (IMO, still the best movie of the 'cross country road race' genre) was shot on a two-lane road signed as "I-80" in the Rhode Island fashion (proper shields, but with an 'I-80' numeral) :pan:.

Has anyone mentioned the opening theme to The Rockford Files?  Lots of LA area freeway scenes from the early 1970s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg1Cx26-928
