"Star" might be tad of a reach given he only had 54 career tackles and 7 career sacks in the NFL.  Back then the NFL did a shitty job of teaching players at how to manage their money and there are lots of stories of short career players losing everything.  This is also a lot more than just "found dead," the dude was straight up murdered.   He was stabbed and apparently had his head smashed with something.
