Does anyone have vectors of the old New York highway shield specs?

Wikipedia has the modern shield designs available as a vector, and from there I've scaled them to match the old specs, but I've only eyeballed it. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of official vectors or anything that accurately reproduces the old style shields.

These specs. appear to be from 1935. They're different from the later specs. because there is a thin inner outline, about a quarter the thickness of the outer border.

The shield gallery says this is from 1948.

I've edited the modern day vectors to look almost exactly like the '48 specs, but again, I don't know if I got the shield height, numeral size and border thickness exactly right.

On a slightly similar note, does anyone know where I can find various state MUTCD that have vector images? When looking for the New York MUTCD, for example, I found it but the images it uses are all rasters. I prefer vectors because that way I can use them in Illustrator. Are they available anywhere online?

I don't know. I've been looking for vectors (or even better, detailed specs) for NY's shield too.

I do know some vectors cost money. British Columbia, for example, wants to charge you $300 because they will only sell every single guide sign used in the province in one package, they don't sell just individual shields or anything. But then others, like Australia, seem to be vector-ready if you use software to break PDF encryption. And then other states, I haven't had much trouble getting vector versions of various shields.

I've got vectors, but if you'd like them, you'll have to buy a sign  :sombrero:

I have them, too, from Wikipedia. Unless you mean you have vectors of the 1935/1948 specs?

Dr Frankenstein

Indeed. It varies a lot between the states/provinces. For example, I can download all of Quebec's vectors and specs for free online, but their complete MUTCD costs $180 just for the online version.

I don't even know where I can get detailed specs and vectors for Ontario.

Concerning the US Route and Interstate shields, I made my own vectors from the specs in FHWA's Standard Highway Signs book. I've found the specs for Vermont's shields too. But that's pretty much all.

yes, I've got all the older specs.  Embossed cutout, flat cutout, and white square.

Do you think you could send me some of the specs you have? I'm particularly interested in the two I posted, 1935 and 1948, because I want to compare them to the one that I made. If not, though, no big deal. (I'd buy a sign but I'm a bit broke at the moment.)

No, but it seems B.C. has never put their MUTCD online, at least a version that has vector images.

They do have a MUTCD equivalent online (really a supplement of the MUTCDC, I think).  But in any case it is not the MUTCD equivalent you want.  I think the relevant reference is called, or used to be called, the Standard Sign Specifications or Sign Pattern Manual.  It has been at the same URL for the better part of a decade, so the Web Archive is your friend.
