So the first part is admitting I have a problem, although I'm not sure what the problem is. So after lurking and returning and reading and driving and photographing, here I am. I can't seem to stop absorbing all the information, so thanks for all the information...although, I'm not sure what I'd actually do with it all, except to regale other at all the parties I attend at exotic locations around the United States (usually airport waiting areas).

Well, here's some pics I've taken over the years (Creative Commons, available at WikiMedia Commons). I'm from South Florida, so I hope you have room for one more...

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

Those are some cute signs!

And welcome from a Chicago native, now living in Seattle!

There aren't many of the old Sawgrass frog signs left.  There used to be one at northbound University Drive and West Sample Road but, with the wholesale rehabilitation of that corner of Coral Springs, the sign was removed.

Today, the whole Sawgrass Expressway is routinely looked as an entirely "north-south" routing, unlike the Palmetto Expressway which is north-south and east-west, in each their respective directions after the "Big Curve."

Where is that 60 km/h sign?  I think that's the first of that euro-style speed sign I've seen here.

P.S. Welcome!

Ian

Greetings from Philadelphia! I like those Sawgrass Expressway signs as well as the 60 km/h sign.

Thanks for the greetings, everyone. I'll probably be doing more lurking (we used to call it "reading") than actual posting, though...as some of these discussions are totally alien to me, until I understand some of the jargon.

Oh, there's one last "frog" sign at the corner of Rock Island Road and Atlantic Boulevard. It's on the NW corner, on Atlantic, westbound a few hundred feet from the intersection. It was night when I saw it, and had to no time the next day to capture it (catching a flight).

Sadly, almost all the other signs are history (photos are from 1992), so they're all gone. Even the metric one. Part of a school project back in the day.

The Hendry County one has always been a bit of an oddity; most maps show that road as County Road 832, for some reason. I first drove on it in 1995, it always said "835" on it. That's still up as of last year.

I will have to check on that old frog Sawgrass logo sign on Rock Island Road and West Atlantic Blvd.  I usually travel that way to work on days when Broward Schools are closed.

P.S. Welcome!

In the summer of 1981 my brother and I spent time with my granny.  We drove all around Jacksonville and Gainesville areas visiting family and her friends.  There were the km/h signs EVERYWHERE around Jax.  When I moved to Jax in 1990 there werent too many left and now I know of none.  There are some city streets with MPH on the bottom of the speed limit signs

That's the one hiding in the ficus hedges of Oriole Margate.

Oh, and I had a few good laughs and some flashbacks of nostalgia with your site, AlpsROADS...great work!
