Sounds like someone needs to visit Wilmington with a crowbar.

And DC with a crowbar and some sort of weapon for self-defense.

I ordered a NY 25 sign from Traffic Management Corp. and got a US 25 sign in the mail instead -- even though the specs I had and the image the sales rep sent me was that of NY 25. The sales rep told me I could keep the US 25 sign.

So who wants a US 25 sign for $20 plus the cost of shipping?

Do you have a photo?

Still in the protective plastic they wrapped it in.

anyone want a Missouri US 71 embossed sign?  Someone just ordered four from me, so I can get them to people at a very reasonable price.  Only $69 + s/h!  (Usual price for a one-off sign is $139 + s/h)  what a deal!

it would have the shield shape and state name font like the 66 in this photo, but of course with number 71.

available in white (standard reassurance) or yellow (city route) format.

That 71 shield is odd: the state name is in the 40's font, but the number is 20's font

the shield shape is also different.  it's a late 20s sign - the company (SG Adams from St. Louis) happened to use round fonts.  It's not quite the same as the FHWA font set - it's almost halfway between round and block fonts.

here's a more detailed view of such a sign:

I'm looking at having a US 15 sign made (never done this before), and found this website with one that can be made for $46.50 (24"x24", Type 1 sheeting).  What do you guys think: is it a good price, and are they reputable?

agentsteel53

it's a good price, but their shield shape seems off.

might just be their icons, though.

Thanks!  I went there once before (found them on this forum), and I couldn't find it.  Now all I need is a spare $50, but they don't accept PayPal.  :-(

What shield specs are these? I found it on RiceSigns...

Seemed like normal '70 specs to me, but unless I'm using the wrong specs, it seems a bit different:

those are the "don't buy from Rice Signs" specs  :-D

So, it's not based on any actual specs at all? I did notice they're using Series C when the '70 shield would have specifically called for Series D numerals to be used.

They want $150 for it.

agentsteel53

the shape is badly wrong; somehow, it is worse-looking than 1970 spec.  Did not think that was possible.

$150 is ridiculous.  I can make you a much nicer sign for less, and I am running off in small quantities.

It was just a random entry I found on their site, I wonder why it was even there if it's not based on any federal standards and wouldn't be used for any actual guide sign purposes.

It may be for sale, considering all the other fugly signs out there

Its part of their "Special series", just random signs meant for the collectors market. Most of which can be found on their main pages for half of the "special series" price.

As in, whoever buys these inaccurate abominations is "special". ;)

Wish those items didn't clog up eBay.

RJ145

As far as I can tell, that's the only inaccurate one.

Quillz

I might get that shield on eBay if I can find the same one (or something similar) for less.

I remade the shield using Series D numerals, though, since I think that would make it look better:
