Do any of you play guitar?  I have been playing for about 20 years now, even though I suck.  What guitars do you own?  I just picked up a white Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster.  I also have a Fender '52RI Telecaster, a Squier H Stratocaster, a Fender DG-6 acoustic, a Harmony strat copy, a Harmony acoustic, and a Teisco Del Ray/Silvertone guitar from the mid sixties.

I'm starting to teach myself the acoustic, though I'd be hard pressed to tell you the type it is.  A hand me down, if you will, from my brother who has played in bands since high school.  He gave me one of his old acoustics, and I'm teaching myself.

I used to play guitar, wasn't very good, haven't in awhile but I still have my guitars - a 1960s era Yamaha red-label FG-230 - that's a 12 string acoustic - and a newer Yamaha acoustic (mid-late '90s) 6-string, forgot the model number, white label.
I hate Clearview, because it looks like a cheap Chinese ripoff.

I'm for the Red Sox and whoever's playing against the Yankees.

Here's the highest quality video I could find of an FG-230 being played, with all 12 strings strung up (I guess some people prefer string it up as a regular 6-string, I wouldn't do this.).  Unfortunately it's a bit out of tune and he's playing with a capo, but it gives you a good idea of how nice this guitar sounds.  I really should start playing again.

You should.  I started playing very rarely a few years back and only recently have gotten back into it.  I play almost every day now.  It's a lot of fun.

Guitars and hard rock sound...and rap lyrics in any language don't mix! LOL! Here's a 1980's French-Canadian rap song: "La Rap a Billy". All I can say is...Histoire fraîche, Frere (translation: Cool Story, Bro), but he representin 'da Belle province Quebec.

Since I made this post I've bought another HSS Strat, this one in Lake Placid Blue.  I also bought a Daphne Blue '50s Classic Series Stratocaster, and a pink Squier Bullet.  I put a Lake Placid Blue Fender Marauder on layaway on Friday and I get it out on the 10th.  It has a triple coil pickup at the bridge and a Jazzmaster pickup at the neck.  It has an offset body similar to a Jaguar or Jazzmaster.  It's a neat guitar.  It's a new design, and is a bit unusual.

Histoire fraîche, Frere (translation: Cool Story, Bro)
No. It means, "Brisk story, brother." You may want a word like "Chouette" or "Super-cool"... and I defer to our French compatriots for a synonym for "homey."

Dr Frankenstein

"Chouette histoire, mon frère."

As Steve said, "Cool" can't be translated literally in this context. And only black people call each other "mon frère" (bro) in French.

In canada, you can take the "mon" off before "frère".

Merci de préciser, bro.  :sombrero: <-sombrebro

I personally own 3 guitars, a Stratospinoff (whom I don't remember the brand, it's stored in its case somewhere because the nut came off) and a japan-made Riviera-brand classical guitar I got from my friend's mother when I was 13, she was about to throw it away. The kind of guitars you would buy in a RadioShack.

My main guitar is a handcrafted acoustic Art & Lutherie Sunrise Dreadnaught series, with cedar top to resist to humidity. Proudly local made, with 85% of canadian wood (the exception : rosewood for the fingerboard and bridge).

A friend has an Art & Lutherie.  I may get to play it this weekend.

I have the same A&L, in black.

I wanted it blue, but being left-handed greatly reduces the choices I have.

Are all of their guitars solid tops?

In the Dreadnaught Series, the Almond model has laminated top, if that's what you asked for:

When I bought mine the seller was trying to push that blue lefty :
-Hey chum, got that nice special for ya', I'll take off a couple 'o bucks, don't tell my boss!
-Sir, this is a left-handed blue guitar. I play right-handed, and I want it kinda' natural color, with matte finish ―as I told you twice in the last 6 minutes.

Amazing guitar, love the sound. I use Dean Markley Blue Steel strings, had to straighten the neck in order to get a good touch, the tension of the strings pulled it inward a bit in the first months.
