Caught sight of a huge new scrawling of graffiti on the southern sound wall of the Ventura Freeway near Reseda today. The wall is reasonably set well away from the traffic lanes. Could I get a match on the paint color for the wall, get out there with a roller and clean this up myself? These taggers annoy the hell out of me.

Best to report it to the local jurisdiction in charge, whether that be Caltrans or the city. Wouldn't want to get in trouble for doing something that could be seen as suspicious within public ROW, even if you weren't the culprit. Most DOTs and urbanized government agencies have employees that are paid specifically for type of purpose anyway.

There may even be some opportunity for a neighborhood cleanup event or sponsor a highway activity that you could get directly involved with.

physically, yes.  legally, no.  where you are between those two endpoints is a matter for your conscience.

I agree with the anger.  Nothing like graffiti to turn a nice neighborhood into a ghetto.  Of course to take it on yourself to fix it would not be right.  Even though you would be covering the graffiti, you could still be charged with vandalism.  Got to love how laws sometimes backfire like that.
