The other day I took a ride on the Polk Parkway eastbound to Interstate 4.  It's basically 4 lane divided except for a two lane section from Old Dixie Highway to Interstate 4 until recent construction converted a section of the two-lane Polk Parkway from Interstate 4 to just south of Pace Road but before the toll plaza to four lanes.

Now that there's a small section of two lane Polk Parkway from the toll plaza to Old Dixie Highway, is Florida's Turnpike Enterprise going to eventually convert that section to 4 lanes?  The right of way and road grade is there as well as the overpass just south of the toll plaza that is ready to accommodate the two southbound lanes - all that's needed is to construct the southbound lanes and build a southbound overpass bridge crossing Old Dixie Highway.  That would make the Polk Parkway four lanes throughout its length and safer than the two lane section that now exists from Old Dixie Highway to Pace Road.

I can't find anything on FTE's website concerning current or future construction on FL 570/Polk Pkwy. I think since all the prep work is pretty much done, it would be a good idea to finish four-laning the rest of the road.

There are a number of proposed tolled expressways throughout Central Florida. I think at least one of these proposed expressways ties into FL 570. It's possible that FTE will wait until they figure out where they will tie in or where the money will come from to build them.

I seen once on an OOCEA newsletter, that FL 408 would be extended westward to US 27 at Clermont and then head S-W across SW Lake and NE Polk and tie in with FL 570.  Is this the one road that would make FL 570 compelled to complete the four lanes?
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.
