The odds of the average major league batter getting a hit in 56 consecutive games are approximately 353,609,587 to 1.

Why did you choose the number 56?

The current MLB record for an individual player getting at least one hit in consecutive games  is 56 games, set by Joe DiMaggio.

The Coriolis Effect is a result of excess or deficit momentum of a parcel of air relative to the rotating earth.

That's something that I've seen explained in words in only one book, and I've read many.  Most books either explain it poorly or explain it with math few will understand.  That's sad, because it's one of the most beautiful concepts I've seen for teaching thinking in different frames of reference.

An inline six cylinder engine can be engineered so that it's inherently balanced.  The power strokes and other strokes work together to maintain smooth crankshaft motion.  A V-8, V-6, or any four cylinder can't do that.  The high torque and relatively low power are due to the long strokes causing high low-end torque and maximum torque at low RPMs.

Joy of sex?  I always thought sex was for relieving pain.  I never realized there could be joy to it.

Most of it is usually treated before it gets there. :P

Did you know that farm raised fugu is non poisonous, unlike wild caught fugu.

The fish eat creatures that have a bacteria in them that makes them poisonous, the death from fugu poisoning is a horrible death, you're concious the entire time as your lungs, heart, etc all freeze, you cannot even move your hands or feet, paralyzed. you can recover, but it is rare.

That would be impossible in the Spanish AM band, which goes in 9 KhZ increments up to only 1609 AM. And still, it would be impossible to get exactly 1710 if it extended that far up, the closest possible would be 1708 AM.

Aww! I have a cat that is older than dirt, too! We suspect Tom is about 17-20 years old in people years. He does not drool, but he likes to lick my face, hands, and arms like a dog.

Then Ford tried to buy Ferrari in 1963, but the deal went off.

In fact, avoid any container of super glue after it's been opened.

False. Just make sure to a) wear goggles and b) poke the hole in the top of the tube (the part where it first came out) without squeezing and always facing away from you. Surprising how easy it is to avoid serious injury that way.

It's mostly because 90% of the time, it's completely dried up already, not because of any danger. Once, I had an old tube open and be used successfully. Once.
