The northern branch of County Road 581 spurs 7.12 miles northeast from U.S. 41 (N Florida Avenue) in the city of Inverness to a boat ramp along the Withlacoochee River. CR 581 initially navigates through the Inverness street grid, following Ella Avenue north from Tompkins Street to E Turner Camp Road. The remainder of the route runs through rural areas adjacent to or across Tsala Apopka Lake.
