State Route 20

Georgia State Route 20

Georgia State Route 20 follows a circuitous course 166.31 miles east from the Alabama state line, west of Rome, around Atlanta to U.S. 19/41 and Lower Woolsey Road at Hampton. SR 20 accompanies U.S. 411 between Rome and Cartersville. East from I-75, SR 20 travels to I-575 at Canton and Cumming.

Heading southeast from the freeway along SR 400, SR 20 leads to Sugar Hill, Buford and the Gwinnett County suburbs. Turning south from I-985/U.S. 23, the state route continues to Lawrenceville, before shifting southeast again to U.S. 78 at Loganville.

The remainder of SR 20 from Loganville to Hampton travels south or southwest. The route continues to Conyers, where it overlaps with SR 138 and meets Interstate 20. SR 20 drops south from there to SR 212, then southwest to an overlap with SR 81 in McDonough.

Beyond Interstate 75, SR 20 parts ways with SR 81 and extends west to a grade separation with U.S. 19/41 in the city of Hampton. The route ends at Lower Woolsey Road, west of U.S. 19/41 and south of EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway).
