Georgia State Route 251 is a rural highway connecting the McIntosh County seat of Darien with the unincorporated community of Townsend. Measuring 13.48 miles in length, SR 251 branches west from U.S. 17/SR 25 in Darien to Interstate 95 at Exit 49. SR 251 turns north away from Cathead Creek at Cox Road. Following Briardam Road, SR 251 concludes at SR 57.

Historically SR 251 spurred west along Cox Road past Buffalo Swamp to the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad siding of Cox. Business Loop I-95 also accompanied the state route south from Exit 49 to U.S. 17/SR 25 in Darien. The business route is still acknowledged on guide signs posted along Interstate 95.
