Traversing sparsely populated areas of Kimble County, IH 10 heads northwest to a diamond interchange (Exit 472) with Old Segovia Road. 12/31/02
Old Segovia Road meanders west into a valley fed by the Johnson Fork of the Llano River. Old U.S. 290 (I-10 Frontage Road) parallels IH 10 northward across Joy Creek to connect Exit 472 with FM 2169 and RM 479 south. 12/31/02
FM 2169 follows a 4.3 mile section of old U.S. 290 leading into the settlement of Segovia. FM 2169 separates from the former US highway at Exit 465 along a loop north to Cloud Point and west to IH 10 at Exit 457 in Junction. 12/31/02
U.S. 83 ventures 94 miles north from the Uvalde County seat of Uvalde to meet IH 10 next. 12/31/02
A trumpet interchange joins U.S. 83 north with IH 10 west at Exit 462. U.S. 83 travels southward to Carrizo Springs, Laredo and ultimately Brownsville in the Rio Grande Valley. 12/31/02
Interstate 10 West U.S. 83 North
U.S. 83 combines with IH 10 northward 5.5 miles to the city of Junction. SL 481 branches west from the freeway at Exit 460 along the former route of both U.S. 83 and 290 to U.S. 377 (11th Street) in Downtown Junction. A picnic area follows along IH 10/U.S. 83 at mile marker 459 and then Exit 457 with the return of FM 2169 on Martinez Street. 12/31/02
FM 2169 winds southwest from Exit 457 along the Llano River to SL 481 (Main Street). The 16,49 mile loop concludes at U.S. 377 (Rio Vista Streeet) and 17th Street) in Junction. 12/31/02
IH 10 west & U.S. 83 span the Llano River south of Kimble County Airport (JCT). The two partition at a diamond interchange (Exit 456) with U.S. 377 (N Main Street) in one mile. U.S. 377 travels northeast across the height of Texas, originating in Del Rio at the Mexico International Border and exiting the state north of Dallas-Fort Worth into Oklahoma. 12/31/02
U.S. 83 north parts ways with IH 10 west, briefly overlapping with U.S. 377 before continuing onto Menard. U.S. 83 is a historic route that parallels cattle trails from Texas to the Northern Plains. Exit 456 represents the last collection of motorist services along IH 10 until the freeway reaches Sonora. 12/31/02
