Interstate 35 North - Webb / La Salle Counties


The northbound beginning of I-35 carries with it US 83. US 83 is overlapped with I-35 for about 20 miles, at which point it splits off and heads north and west.

Exit 4 departs here for FM 1472 via Del Mar Boulevard and Santa Maria Avenue. FM (UR) 1472 travels northwest via FM (UR) 255 to serve local farms.

The Colombia Solidarity International bridge into Mexico is a 22 mile drive west along SH 255.

After being constructed, SH 255 did not meet financial expectations and eventually fell into foreclosure. After default, the original owners bought the road back for $12 million, then closed the road. TxDOT bought it after closure for $20 million to reopen it.

The US Border Patrol inspection station was relocated in 2006 north from Laredo to a point between Exits 27 and 32.

Exit 38 leaves IH 35 north for Business Loop I-35B. Encinal is a small ranching and natural gas outpost, founded on the railroad tracks in 1883.
