The southbound roadway from IH 35 shifts onto Santa Ursula Street one block north of the one way couplet of Business Loop I-35 along Houston Street west and Matamoros Street east. U.S. 83 and SH 359 follow the couplet east to Zacate Creek.

U.S. 83 and SH 359 overlap 2.3 miles east. U.S. 83 continues south to the Rio Grande Valley while SH 359 ventures east to Hebbronville. Santa Ursula Avenue extends five blocks south to the port of entry for the Puente International II Bridge across the Rio Grande into Mexico.
