Interstate 410 Inner Loop - East Side



IH 410 east combines with IH 35 south just ahead of a diamond interchange (Exit 165) with FM 1976. FM 1976 travels east from the Windsor Park Mall area to Windcrest, Converse and Universal City.

FM 1976 (Walzem Road) stems east from IH 35/410 through Windcrest along a 7.24 mile course to Loop 1604 by Randolph Air Force Base.

Exit 165 departs IH 35/410 south below a flyover carrying traffic from the west frontage road and Randolph Road. Walzem Road west links the freeway with Loop 368 (Austin Highway).

IH 35 branches southwest from IH 410 in two miles at Exit 163. The ensuing ramp is with Eisenhauer Road (Exit 164B).

Exit 164B comprises a slip ramp onto the adjacent frontage road for Eisenhauer Road. Eisenhauer Road runs along the south Windcrest city line between IH 35/410 and Midcrown Drive.

Rittman Road heads west from Exit 164A to James Park, the north side of Fort Sam Houston and Terrell Hills. IH 35/410 advance one mile south to their split at Exit 163.

Exit 162 precedes the IH 35/410 separation for the IH 35 frontage road south to George Beach Road west for Fort Sam Houston and Brooke Army Medical Center and FM 78 (Seguin Road) east to Kirby.

Construction in 2014-17 rebuilt the IH 35/410 partition so that the Exit 163 departs from the right side of the freeway. IH 35 turns west en route to Downtown from here while IH 410 meets IH 10 and SH 130 in 3.3 miles.

With left side ramps along IH 410 northbound, the interchange (Exit 31B) with Loop 13 reflects the origins of Interstate 410. Still a major thoroughfare between IH 37 and IH 35, Loop 13 was the first loop around San Antonio.
