State Road 25 North - Logansport to Rochester

SR 25 follows Burlington Avenue into the south side of Logansport (population 18,396). The county seat of Cass County, Logansport is located at the junction of the Wabash and Eel Rivers and has been a crossroads throughout its history for water, rail and road transportation.

Past the Norfolk Southern railroad overpass, SR 25 (Burlington Avenue) crosses the north channel of the Wabash River into the business district of Logansport. Here the highway begins following 3rd Street.

SR 25 (3rd Street) crosses the Toledo, Peoria and Western railroad on the other side of the Wabash River bridge as the roadway expands back to four lanes.

SR 25 turns off of 3rd Street and follows Market Street (Business U.S. 24) for three blocks to 6th Street. SR 25 follows that street out of the Logansport business district. SR 17 begins its 50 mile journey north to Plymouth, via Kewanna and Culver at this intersection.

SR 25 crosses the Eel River on 6th Street and makes a turn to the east onto Michigan Avenue as it heads out of Downtown Logansport.

SR 25 (Michigan Avenue) kinks eastward as it continues on a path through the north side residential section of Logansport. As the name may suggest, SR 25 is following the pathway of the original Michigan Road. Jim Grey's website on the Michigan Road gives a very good history over one of Indiana's original highways and shows a neat history of SR 25's path from Logansport to Rochester via the website.

Now leaving Logansport, SR 25 is 14 miles away from the town of Fulton and 25 miles from the Fulton County seat of Rochester.

We pick up SR 25 (Main Street) in Fulton County to the south of the county seat of Rochester. U.S. 31 has an interchange with SR 25 just south of this location. Downtown Rochester is now one mile away from this spot. Warsaw, the northern terminus of SR 25 is 29 miles away.

Taking an advantage of the four lane expressway access to the main north-south highway between Indianapolis and South Bend, commercial businesses line SR 25 (Main Street) north of the U.S. 31 interchange. Up ahead is the junction with SR 14 west.

SR 14 goes for 123 miles across northern Indiana from a western end at U.S. 41 in Enos eastward through Winamac, Rochester and South Whitley, ending at Interstate 69 west of Fort Wayne. SR 14 joins SR 25 (Main Street) into Downtown Rochester.

The Pulaski County seat of Winamac is 21 miles to the west of Rochester. SR 14 passes over U.S. 31 where there had previously been an intersection between the two highways. Access to SR 14 from U.S. 31 is now done through SR 25 (Main Street).
