Now coming up to the intersection with SR 43 south. SR 43 exists in two segments, one north of Lafayette and the other stretching for 23 miles from SR 46 south to SR 45 in eastern Greene County. 12/29/11
The town of Whitehall lies at the junction of SR 43 with SR 48 in western Monroe County some ten miles to the south. 12/29/11
The entrance of McCormicks Creek State Park is just beyond SR 43. McCormicks Creek State Park is the oldest in the Indiana system of state parks, first opening in 1916. 12/29/11
Just ahead of the entrance to McCormicks Creek State Park, a distance sign lists only Terre Haute at 42 miles away. 12/29/11
West of the entrance to McCormicks Creek State Park, SR 46 descends into the valley of the West Fork of the White River. 12/29/11

Across the West Fork of the White River, SR 46 enters the city of Spencer (population 2,217). Upon entering Spencer, SR 46 approaches the intersection with U.S. 231 & SR 67 north. 12/29/11
U.S. 231 and SR 67 will follow SR 46 along Morgan Street through the heart of Spencer. To the north, the two highways multiplex for six miles before they split. From there, U.S. 231 heads toward Cloverdale and Greencastle while SR 67 takes a northeasterly track toward Gosport, Martinsville and Indianapolis. 12/29/11
Now at the intersection with U.S. 231 & SR 67 , which is known as Fletcher Street in town. Traffic bound for Terre Haute should continue straight along the overlap of U.S. 231 and SR 46 & 67 on Morgan Street while Indianapolis-bound traffic should head north along U.S. 231 & SR 67 north (Fletcher Street). 12/29/11
U.S. 231-SR 67 south & Indiana State Road 46 west
West of the intersection with U.S. 231 & SR 67 north (Fletcher Street), the trio of U.S. 231 and SR 46-67 (Morgan Street) follows a busy route through the city of Spencer. SR 67 in totality goes for 199 miles from Vincennes to the southwest north through Indianapolis and Muncie before ending at the Ohio border near Bryant. 12/29/11
U.S. 231-SR 67 south & 46 west (Morgan Street) enter the stoplight intersection with Main Street, which leads to Downtown Spencer. 12/29/11
Now west of the Main Street intersection, U.S. 231 & SR 46-67 (Morgan Street) head past several retail and service establishments toward the west side of Spencer. U.S. 231 spends 297 miles of its 912 mile journey in Indiana from the highway's northern terminus in St. John before heading south through Rensselaer, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, Greencastle, Spencer, and Jasper before crossing the Ohio River into Kentucky. The highway ultimately ends in Panama City, Florida. 12/29/11
Now coming up to the split with U.S. 231 & SR 67 south and SR 46 west. To the left, U.S. 231 & SR 67 remain multiplexed for another 17 miles to the south to Worthington. From there, SR 67 continues to the southwest toward Vincennes whereas U.S. 231 heads south toward Bloomfield, Jasper and Owensboro, Kentucky. 12/29/11
SR 46 turns to the right where it continues as a rural route through Owen, Clay and Vigo Counties and past the communities of Vandalia, Bowling Green and Riley before meeting up with U.S. 40 outside of Terre Haute. The final few miles of SR 46 share pavement with U.S. 40 to the east side of the Vigo County seat. 12/29/11
