Maryland Route 295 / Baltimore-Washington Parkway - North
Baltimore-Washington Parkway northbound at the MD 32 eastbound off-ramp to Fort George G. Meade and Odenton. The four lane freeway travels through the military installation as a recently upgraded freeway. A traffic light midway between MD 295 and the Maples Road exit was replaced with an interchange in 2004. 10/02/04
MD 32 westbound migrates northwest to Annapolis Junction, Savage, Columbia, and Sykesville. The Patuxent Freeway sees full interchanges with both Interstate 95 and the U.S. 29 freeway before concluding at MD 109 (Clarksville Pike). 10/02/04
The next exit along northbound is MD 198/Fort Meade Road to MD 23 east, followed by MD 32 west. Neither of these exits are profiled here. Following those two exits, the next exit is for MD 175/Annapolis Road. 06/07/04
A cloverleaf interchange connects Baltimore-Washington Parkway and MD 175 (Annapolis Road). MD 175 also serves the Fort Meade and Odenton area from MD 295 southeast to Millersville. 10/13/04
Upon reaching this National Park Service sign in the median of the parkway, the federally maintained portion ends and MD 295 begins. The Parkway is dedicated to Gladys Noon Spellman. 06/07/04
The next exit (signed by the Maryland State Highway Administration) is for MD 175/Annapolis Road west to Jessup. Trucks are allowed on the parkway north of MD 175, but they are comparably rare. 06/07/04
This is the first MD 295 shield along northbound. The state highway emerges from obscurity on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway segment between MD 175 and Interstate 95 in the city of Baltimore. Segments both north and south of this stretch remain unsigned in their entirety. 10/13/04
Approaching the Arundel Mills Boulevard diamond interchange on MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) northbound. Arundel Mills Boulevard begins here and heads east to the Arundel Mills Mall and MD 713 (Ridge Road). The surface highway is divided. 10/13/04
Arundels Mills Boulevard leaves MD 295 northbound for Arundel Mills Mall and its merge with MD 713. MD 713 continues the boulevard to MD 100 and MD 176 (Dorsey Road). The interchange between MD 295 and Arundels Mills Boulevard features roundabouts at the end of the off-ramps. 10/13/04
The next exit along northbound MD 295/Baltimore-Washington Parkway is the exit for MD 100 freeway, which heads east to Glen Burnie and west to Ellicott City (near the interchange with U.S. 29 at its northwestern terminus). 10/13/04
An auxiliary lane opens along MD 295 north for MD 100 east to Glen Burnie and Gibson Island. The MD 100 freeway was completed by the late 1990s between Jacobsville and U.S. 29. 06/07/04
Northbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) reaches the exit for eastbound MD 100 for Severn, Southgate, Glen Burnie, Pasadena and Lakeshore. 10/13/04
Northbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) at MD 100 west. MD 100 serves the southwest Baltimore suburbs of Harwood Park, Dorsey, Font Hill, Glenmar, and Columbia Hills among others on the jaunt northwest to U.S. 29. 10/13/04

The next interchange along MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) northbound is the directional cloverleaf with Interstate 195. The first sign posted directs motorists onto Interstate 195 westbound for the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Ramps depart Interstate 195 near the western terminus for the college campus at Arbutus. 10/13/04
One mile overhead for Interstate 195 on MD 295 northbound. Interstate 195 replaced the MD 46 freeway when it bridged the gap between the BWI freeway spur from the Parkway and Arbutus freeway spur from Interstate 95. Signed east-west on its banners, the north-south freeway links directly with the Baltimore-Washington International Airport terminal to the south. 10/13/04
Catonsville may be reached by taking Interstate 195 northwest past Interstate 95, then north along MD 166/Rolling Road. 08/27/05
MD 295 passes under Ridge Road ahead of the interchange with Interstate 195. Departing ahead is the eastbound ramp for Baltimore-Washington International Airport and MD 170 (Aviation Boulevard) to Linthicum. 10/13/04
Motorists bound for BWI Airport or MD 170 (Aviation Boulevard) leave MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) northbound. Interstate 195 interchanges with Aviation Boulevard before ending at the airport terminal. In the distance is the AMTRAK / MARC under crossing and loop ramp onto Interstate 195 westbound. 08/27/05
Now on the transition ramp from northbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) to eastbound Interstate 195, this sign advises that the final exit along eastbound Interstate 195 is MD 170 (Aviation Boulevard). All trucks must exit at that interchange. 10/13/04

Northbound MD 295/Baltimore-Washington Parkway approaches Exit 34, Nursery Road. Nursery Road loops north from Elkridge Landing Road to River Road at the Patapsco Valley State Park. From there the roadway turns east to become MD 168 at its intersection with Hammonds Ferry Road. 12/18/07

MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) reaches the diamond interchange with Nursery Road. Underway in this scene is construction involving the widening of the parkway from four to six lanes. A $23.7 million plan to expand the road was unveiled in October 20041, but work did not commence until Summer 2008. The project focused on MD 295 between I-195 and I-695, improving access to the airport. Work ran through Spring 2012. 07/02/10
As MD 295 enters the Baltimore metropolitan area, motorists are afforded choices. Two of the main routes (Interstate 95 and Interstate 895) require underwater tunnels to pass through the city, while one direction of Interstate 695 uses a bridge to cross the harbor. A tunnel advisory sign, which identifies prohibited vehicles, is just ahead.

Interstate 695 east/outer loop uses the Francis Scott Key Bridge to pass over the Inner Harbor and meet Interstate 95 northeast of the city en route to northern Delaware, southeast Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. 12/18/07

Motorists using the forthcoming Interstate 895 (Harbor Tunnel Thruway) exit default into the Harbor Tunnel as there are no northbound off-ramps between Interstate 95 and the Patapsco River crossing. MD 295 drivers cross over the Patapsco River (Baltimore County line) in this scene as well. 12/18/07
Northbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) reaches the junction with Interstate 895 (Harbor Tunnel Thruway) north. Interstate 895 provides an alternative to Interstate 95 (Fort McHenry Tunnel) and avoids downtown Baltimore. 12/18/07
Next in line for northbound motorists is the folded diamond interchange with Waterview Avenue and Annapolis Road (MD 648). MD 295 passes under Patapsco Avenue beyond the 0.75 mile sign bridge for Waterview Avenue. 05/31/04

This overpass carries a MARC light rail line over MD 295 west of Cherry Hill. 05/31/04
The Waterview Avenue off-ramp departs MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Expressway). Waterview Avenue lines the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River from Cherry Hill to MD 2 (Hanover Street).
MD 648 (Annapolis Road) crosses the expressway and intersects Waterview Avenue nearby. The state route parallels MD 295 through Westport. 12/18/07

End of the freeway occurs here with traffic bound for U.S. 1 utilizing the Monroe Street exit (U.S. 1 is routed to the northwest of this location). The parkway transitions to Russell Street en route to downtown Baltimore and Camden Yards.
At one point U.S. 301 followed the Baltimore-Washington Expressway northward from the beltway to the Monroe Street trumpet interchange. The US route utilized Monroe Street to Wilkens Avenue, where it ended. 05/31/04, 12/18/07
Maryland Route 295 / Russell Street - North
After passing through the Interstate 95 interchange, MD 295 follows Russell Street, a six lane boulevard, toward Ravens Stadium and Camden Yards. In addition, MD 295 may be used to reach Interstate 83, Interstate 95, and Interstate 395. Note that there is cross-traffic and feeder streets, so MD 295 is no longer a freeway. 05/31/04
Now passing alongside Ravens Stadium (home to the National Football League Baltimore Ravens), MD 295 approaches an offramp to north Interstate 395/Martin Luther King Jr. Spur. 05/31/04
In addition to connecting to Interstate 83 and Interstate 95, Interstate 395 also leads to U.S. 40 via Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. 05/31/04
Northbound MD 295/Russell Street at the gore point for the slip exit to a frontage road that connects to Interstate 395 south to Interstate 95 and Interstate 395 north to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and U.S. 40. As for MD 295, it continues north along Russell Street to Camden Yards, then splits into the Greene Street/Paca Street couplet before reaching U.S. 40 (Franklin Street/Mulberry Street couplet). At U.S. 40, MD 295 ends and MD 129 begins. 05/31/04
Once on the frontage road, the ramp splits in two (after passing the traffic signal for Hamburg Street) - the left lane is for Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard north and the right lane is for Interstate 395 south back to Interstate 95. 05/31/04
