Route 28
Another in a series of multi-state routes with Massachusetts, NH 28 runs 85.2 miles north from Methuen, MA to NH 16 at Ossipee through southeastern reaches of the state. Northward from Salem to Manchester, the route mirrors the course of Interstate 93, primarily serving local interests to Suncook and the separation with U.S. 3. The remainder of the route north through Allenstown, Pittsfield and Alton provides a route to Lake Winnipesaukee.
Three auxiliary routes accompany NH 28 including NH 28 Bypass, a 14.1 mile route between Derry and Hooksett and two sections of NH 28A. The southern NH 28A forms a 7.6 mile route from Londonderry north to Manchester and Hooksett while the northern component totals just 3.8 miles as a loop along Alton Bay of Lake Winnipesaukee in the town of Alton.

A pair of reassurance markers were posted for NH 28 north along Maple Street beyond the intersection with Bridge Street in Manchester. The left side shield was removed by 2012.

NH 28 separates into a one way couplet of Maple Street north and Beech Street south between Willow Street and the overlap with U.S. 3 along Hooksett Road.

NHe 28 (Willow Street) southbound at the diamond interchange with I-293/NH 101 in south Manchester. NH 28 constitutes a busy commercial corridor anchored by the Mall of New Hampshire and other big box retail.
This set of overheads was replaced by 2012.

I-293/NH 101 continue east a short distance from NH 28 to the merge with Interstate 93. This guide sign for the NH 28 (Willow Street) eastbound entrance ramp was replaced by 2013.

Bridge Street extends Wellington Road west from I-93 (Exit 8) to NH 28A (Mammoth Road) and the Manchester street grid. NH 28A comprises a surface route bypass of NH 28 through eastern Manchester.
