Route 24

New Jersey Route 24 is a limited access highway connecting Interstate 78 in Springfield Township with Interstate 287 in Hanover Township. Route 24 is part of a commuter route between Newark and Morristown. The 10.42 mile long freeway also serves the city of Summit, the boroughs of Florham Park and Madison and Millburn Township.

Prior to construction of the freeway northwest from Summit toward Morristown, Route 24 followed Morris Road and Morris Turnpike from Springfield to Summit and Milburn Township along what is now Route 124. Route 124 west along Main Street through Chatham and Madison is also part of old Route 24. Route 124 continues northwest along Madison Avenue through Morris Township into the Morris County seat of Morristown. The west end of the route is at U.S. 202 in Downtown. Route 24 however continued further west along County Route 510 to Mendham and Chester.
