U.S. 26

Beginning from U.S. 101 south of Seaside, U.S. 26 travels across the state of Oregon to the Idaho state line at Nyssa. U.S. 26 traverses the Coast Range along Sunset Highway. Leaving the mountains north of Banks, U.S. 26 follows a linear route initially across agricultural areas to South Plains before transitioning into a suburban freeway at Hillsboro.
U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) continues along a freeway to Beaverton and across the Multnomah County line into Portland. Crossing the Tualatin Mountains, U.S. 26 passes through the Vista Ridge Tunnel before converging with Interstate 405 (Stadium Freeway) at the Portland City Center.
The Ross Island Bridge takes U.S. 26 over the Willamette River onto Powell Boulevard at Brooklyn in Portland. The urban boulevard extends east across the city to the Centennial neighborhood. U.S. 26 continues east into Gresham before turning southward along Mount Hood Highway to Sandy.
U.S. 26 across the Cascade Range passes south of Mount Hood within Mount Hood National Forest. The highway heads south to Warm Springs Indian Reservation and U.S. 97 at Madras. Following an overlap with U.S. 97, U.S. 26 remains southeast to Prineville, then shifts northward across the Ochoco Mountains to Ochoco.
Paralleling the John Day River, U.S. 26 runs north of the Aldrich Mountains from Dayville east to U.S. 395 at Mount Vernon. U.S. 395 combines with U.S. 26 east to John Day, where it resumes a southward course across the Strawberry Range. U.S. 26 remains east to Prairie City. U.S. 26 overlaps with U.S. 20 east from Vale to Cairo Junction, and south to Nyssa.
