U.S. 84 westbound leaves Waco beyond the exchange with SH 6. A tri-level interchange, signalized intersections connect the two freeways along the second level.

Traffic departs U.S. 84 west for Londonberry Drive 14 miles out from McGregor. U.S. 84 also formally enters the suburb of Woodway at this point.

Both Texas Central Parkway and Santa Fe Drive tie into U.S. 84 at the upcoming interchange. Texas Central Parkway forms an arc through industrial areas between U.S. 84 and Bagby Avenue.

Continuing through Woodway, the succeeding off-ramp joins U.S. 84 with the frontage road ahead of Old McGregor Road. Signage for this exit was changed by January 2008.

Lowering to cross the South Bosque River, U.S. 84 reenters Waco through the far west side. This area of the city is known as the "Golden Corridor" and economic advocacy groups in Waco have pushed for growth along U.S. 84 in both residential and business areas.

U.S. 84 westbound at the Frontage Road exit preceding the North Bosque River. Many newer homes were built on this stretch of road, and along with northwestern Waco, it is the fastest sprawling area of the city.

FM 2837 is the next major intersection along U.S. 84 westbound. Like FM 1695 before it, FM 2837 runs southward to IH 35 at Lorena.

Speegleville Road ties into the signalized intersection with FM 2837 (Old Lorena Road) from the north. Speegleville Road winds 8.96 miles northward from U.S. 84 and the Villages of Twin Rivers golf course community in Waco to SH 6 and SS 412 off Lake Waco.

FM 2837 (Old Lorena Road) provides a bypass of Waco and Hewitt south 8.26 miles to IH 35. Suburban frontage extends another 2.3 miles west along U.S. 84.

McGregor Executive Airport (PWG) lines the north side of U.S. 84 beyond Bosque Lane as the four lane highway straddles the McGregor / Waco city line westward.

FM 2188 (Cotton Belt Parkway) meets U.S. 84 on the east side of McGregor. Most newer subdivisions were constructed on the Waco side of the city line, while McGregor has a large manufacturing area.
