U.S. 280 West - Alexander City to Sylacauga


SR 22/63 combine 1.76 miles south from Downtown Alexander City to U.S. 280. South from the city, SR 63 heads to Eclectic while SR 22 turns west alongside U.S. 280, 1.69 miles to Rockford Highway. SR 22 travels 16.9 miles west from U.S. 280 to the Coosa County seat of Rockford.

U.S. 280 is a four lane, divided highway northwest from Alexander City to the Birmingham suburbs in Shelby County. The first of two interchanges along this stretch joins U.S. 280 with SR 9 west of the town of Kellyton.

SR 9 is the unsigned counterpart of U.S. 331 south from Montgomery. SR 9 emerges from U.S. 231/SR 21 as a stand alone route northeast from Wetumpka 33.12 miles to U.S. 280. SR 9 continues 3.9 miles north into the town of Goodwater.
