Interstate 64 Missouri


This suite of photos shows the eastbound I-64/U.S. 40 between Town and Country and Richmond Heights before the "New I-64" project redesigned the roadway. Photos also show replaced guide signs and previous interchange layouts throughout I-64 in Missouri.

The Daniel Boone Bridge replacement project on I-64 & U.S. 40-61 included a new Chesterfield Airport Road overpass and interchange upgrade. A low clearance bridge previously tied in Chesterfield Airport Road west with I-64 west. 05/04/12

Eastbound shield assembly posted after the Ballas Road on-ramp. An extra merge lane was constructed and sound barriers added to this location during the rebuild of I-64. 10/16/04

A tight full-cloverleaf interchange between Lindbergh Boulevard (U.S. 67) and Interstate 64 & U.S. 40 was replaced with a single point urban interchange. Now all traffic departs in unison a short distance ahead of the original Exit 28A. 10/16/04

The loop ramp at Exit 28B joined U.S. 67 (Lindberg Boulevard) north immediately opposite the westbound on-ramp. The weaving traffic pattern was eliminated with the SPUI. 10/16/04

Six lanes of Interstate 64 & U.S. 40 curved east across a combination of Warson Road, Clayton Road and Deer Creek. This stretch now accommodates eight overall lanes. 10/16/04

An advisory sign alerted truckers to the substandard overpass carrying McKnight Road over I-64/U.S. 40 a half mile ahead. 10/16/04

The McKnight Road diamond interchange remains in place, though the ramps were extended in both directions. 10/16/04

There was no direct access to Interstate 170 north from I-64/U.S. 40 east at forthcoming Exit 31. Note the original overpass for McKnight Road. 10/16/04

Overpasses, such as the one carrying McCutchen Road, dating to the original construction of the U.S. 40 freeway west of St. Louis remained in use until the late 2000s. 10/16/04

Motorists were required to use a congested route along Brentwood Boulevard north from Exit 31 to Galleria Parkway east to make the connection to I-170 north. A new flyover provides direct access now. 10/16/04
