Delaware State Route 141 - North Archive


A freeway style sign bridge was placed along Centerville Road north ahead of Boxwood Road (SR 62) for Exit 5. Signs here was carbon copied by 2002. 04/24/04

A light post hosting a reassurance marker for SR 141 north was knocked down in 2007. A new fixture was installed by 2014, but without the route shield. 04/23/04

An interchange sequence sign alluded to the unconstructed extension of the SR 141 freeway north to Greenville. 08/05/07

Exits 6A/B joined SR 141 north with the northbound beginning of SR 41 in addition to SR 2 (Kirkwood Highway). Signs were carbon copied to use Clearview font by 2010. 08/05/07

The removal of SR 41 from SR 2 (Kirkwood Highway) west to Newport Gap Pike in 2015 resulted in the resigning of Exit 6. As such Lancaster, Pennsylvania is no longer referenced for Exit 6B. 06/10/12

Remnants from the cancelled SR 141 freeway north included an unused lane to the left and subsequent lane drop ahead of the c/d roadway return from SR 2. All signs here were carbon copied by 2010. 08/05/07

Sloppy sign replacements at Exit 6A omitted shields for SR 2 west to Newark and SR 41 north to Lancaster. 08/05/07

Motorists headed to Lancaster are no longer directed to use Exit 6B, with DelDOT favoring SR 48 north from SR 141 to Hockessin in place of SR 41 (Newport Gap Pike). 06/10/12

SR 141 reduces to a single through lane as the Newport Freeway ends. This pattern remained the same following 2007-10 construction to expand the ensuing stretch of Centre Road to a four-lane divided boulevard. 08/05/07

Aforementioned road work extended the c/d roadway at Exit 6 to a more fluid merge with SR 141 north along Centre Road. The previous traffic pattern involved an S-curve merge, as the c/d roadway ended with a stub leftover from the scuttled freeway proposal. 03/28/04

Expressway ends signs and flashers marked the freeway end and SR 141 transition to Centre Road. 12/21/04

Right of way acquisition for the Centre Road expansion project expanded the footprint of SR 141 to the east. Several properties were demolished to make way for the new boulevard. 08/05/07

SR 141 previously narrowed between the freeway end and SR 34 (Faulkland Road). This stretch of roadway was accident prone due to its lack of turn lanes for adjacent residential areas. 05/17/07

SR 141 (Centre Road) north ahead of Little Mill Creek, four months ahead of the widening project completion. 07/03/10

Narrow travel lanes took Centre Road north to the signalized intersection with SR 34. Expansion of the state route took the place of the east side frontage road and an adjacent business. 12/21/04
