The second in a series of overheads for Exit 6 appeared at the 11th Street off-ramp on I-95/U.S. 202 south. Exit 6 serves the SR 4, 9, and 48 alignments through the West Side, Hilltop, and Browntown neighborhoods of the city. 03/23/04

Three on-ramps from the city of Wilmington serve I-95/U.S. 202 southbound. The first links Jackson Street and SR 52 with the freeway at the Ninth Street overpass. 03/23/04

Southbound at the Eight Street overpass. Exit 6 joins Jackson Street at SR 9 (Fourth Street) two blocks ahead of SR 48 east (2nd Street). The sign on the bridge support was for the Wilmington Blue Rocks Class A Minor League Baseball team. The team plays at Daniel Frawley Stadium to the south of SR 4 (Maryland Avenue). 03/19/04

Exit 6 leaves I-95 southbound at the Seventh Street overpass. for SR 9 (Fourth Street) and Jackson Street south. Jackson Street provides three southbound lanes between Fourth Street and Lancaster Avenue (SR 48 east). SR 4 west begins two blocks to the east on Monroe Street. 10/13/04

The below grade section of Interstate 95 transitions into a pair of two lane viaducts south of Sixth Street. The geological fall line is between Fourth and Sixth Streets and is the reason for the change in landscape. The Amtrak and SEPTA (Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority) trailblazers for Exit 6 reference the Wilmington Train Station at Front and Market Streets. 03/19/04

I-95 proceeds along the Wilmington Viaduct 2.5 miles southwest from Exit 6 to I-295. 01/14/17

Descending from Sixth Street westward to SR 9 (Fourth Street) on the Exit 6 ramp. SR 9 and SR 48 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) provide two of the main access points into Downtown Wilmington from I-95. SR 9 north ascends toward the Little Italy neighborhood of the city and SR 2 (Union and Lincoln Streets). 03/21/04

The reconstruction project of I-95 north of Wilmington in 2000 included restriping the merge of I-95/495. Instead of three through lanes beyond the I-295 exit ramp, motorists were only allocated two. 03/28/04
