U.S. 19 Florida - North

This mileage sign posted at the northbound beginning of U.S. 19 was replaced in April 2014 to add both Clearwater and Perry. The mileage to St. Petersburg was revised upwards by three miles as well. 07/06/13

ITS based sign boards were installed along both Interstate 275 and U.S. 19 in 2013, replacing older signs and beacons for closures of the Sunshine Skyway due to inclement weather. 07/06/13

Replaced guide sign for the upcoming SPUI linking U.S. 19 with Florida 694 (Gandy Boulevard east / Park Boulevard west) in Pinellas Park. 01/02/06

Old style cutout shields adorned the overheads for Florida 694 on U.S. 19 (34th Street North) at Park Boulevard west / Gandy Boulevard east. These were overlaid with new shields by 2011. 01/02/06

The parclo interchange with 49th Street North (CR 611) was the lone exit along this stretch of U.S. 19 until 2008, when the arterial was upgraded to a freeway northward to CR 296. 02/21/06

Beyond the loop ramp for CR 611 south, U.S. 19 transitioned back into a commercial arterial. A multi-year project upgraded the road to a six-lane freeway, with frontage roads added in both directions for adjacent businesses and local streets. 01/02/06

U.S. 19 previously lowered from the 49th Street North (CR 611) overpass into another congested commercial strip. Signalized intersections along the way included one with Pinellas County 296 (Bryan Dairy Road / former 118th Avenue North). Construction began in 2007 to replace the busy intersection with a SPUI. 01/02/06

Pinellas County 296 replicates Florida 296 / Escambia County 296 as it travels along Bryan Dairy Road from Hamlin Boulevard near west Largo and Exit 30 of Interstate 275. 01/02/06

CR 296 provides a straight shot to Interstate 275 at its interchange with Florida 686 (but without access to Roosevelt Boulevard). The corridor was touted for an upgrade to a freeway, with a small portion already upgraded over 28th Street North. 01/02/06

U.S. 19 north at Pinellas County 296 (Bryan Dairy Road). The wide median of Bryan Dairy Road to the east was reserved for the future freeway lanes; west of U.S. 19, the corridor retains access control through to the Florida 693 (66th Street North) SPUI. 01/02/06

Continuing north on U.S. 19 before construction upgraded it to freeway standards between the SPUI with CR 296 and 126th Avenue North through east Largo. Next in line for northbound motorists was the frontage road departure, followed by the ramp to Florida 688 (Ulmerton Road). Florida 688 travels west all the way to Florida 699 (Gulf Boulevard) at Indian Rocks Beach on the coast. 01/02/06

The northbound frontage road connected U.S. 19 drivers with 126th Avenue North beyond the freeway beginning. 01/02/06

Northbound reassurance marker posted ahead of the frontage road partition. Upon completion of the construction at Bryan Dairy Road, U.S. 19 was a full freeway from Pinellas County 611 north to Central Avenue in east Largo. Completion of this stage of road work occurred in 2008. 01/02/06

U.S. 19 utilizes a series of frontage roads on all of its freeway sections. These roads provide access to the original U.S. 19 businesses and side street connections that the freeway now bypasses. 126th Avenue North travels west to Florida 693 (66th Street North) to the Largo and Pinellas Park city line otherwise. 01/02/06

Congestion returned to U.S. 19 as the highway transitioned back to at-grade and intersected Haines Bayshore Road. 01/02/06

Belleair Road (Pinellas County 464) stemmed west from this signal with U.S. 19 to run roughly along the north Largo city line to Ft. Harrison Avenue in southwest Clearwater. 01/02/06

Northbound at the traffic light with Nursery Road (Pinellas County 474) on U.S. 19. This intersection was eliminated and now motorists must use the frontage roads at the Belleair Road off-ramp to access the east-west road to Highland Avenue through southeast Clearwater. 01/02/06

Now within eastern Clearwater, U.S. 19 continued to within one half mile of the SPUI with Florida 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard). A second freeway section carried the route north from Seville Boulevard to McCormick Drive. 01/02/06
