Iowa Trip Day 2 – MO to Quad Cities

Continuing the drive north from Sikeston to the Quad Cities, clouds dominated the day, and from Springfield northward, snow flakes joined the fray. Generally traveled northward along Interstate 55, with a loop onto the new I-64, I-270, and I-255 around St. Louis. Took Interstate 155 to Interstates 74/474 to the Quad Cities in light snow. Western Roads @ AARoads

Yesterday we completed the merge of all guides formerly on rockymountainroads.com onto AARoads. During this we restructured the directories, and linked most guides to one another for continuity purposes. This is part of our overall goal to restructure the entire AARoads site, and the movement of westcoastroads.com material onto the main site is next.

KY-IN-MI-OH Trip Day 4

Day 4 - Detroit to Cincinnati Met up with fellow road enthusiast Dan Garnell the night before and discussed various topics around Michigan and the Great Lakes. One such item was the tanker fire that destroyed the 9 Mile Road overpass along Interstate 75. Dan told us that the damaged bridge was removed but little progress was made since the demolition on its replacement. The topic is discussed on the [...]

KY-IN-MI-OH Trip Day 2

Day 2 - Seymour, Indiana to Petoskey, Michigan Heading north from southern Indiana to the capital city, Interstate 65 continues with four lanes and loads of tractor trailers. The constant beating the pavement takes from the moving freight prompted officials to resurface the route from Whiteland to Greenwood in 2007 as part of the INDOT Major Moves initiative. Expansion of the road to six lanes does not occur until Exit [...]

New Interstates in the works

Three new Interstate sections are in the works, planned, or coming to fruition. Discussion on the AARoads Forum highlighted three recent additions: Interstate 781 is the number proposed for a new freeway spur from Interstate 81 to Fort Drum in Upstate New York. This route would enhance access to growing Fort Drum and bypass a current at-grade connection. A page for I-781 resides on the Interstate Guide as well. Interstate [...]
